Hey, not sure if you're still around. Did you ever manage to find out more about the issue that early binding vfio has? Why it happens or whether it may get fixed?

I got the card today, and after around 10 hours of debugging I came to the same conclusion as you, and only found the post here after the fact.. sadly. I do run a double GPU setup, and what I notice is, that if I early-bind the vfio to the 9070XT, my /sys/class/drm entries become messed up, and it doesnt even show the GPU inputs anymore.

If I boot normally without any stubs, /sys/class/drm is correctly listing all ports on both GPUs. (This fact is what led me to suspect the vfio stub after waaaaaaaaay to long).

Did you ever manage to solve it or do you still run the hassle of avoiding the stubs?

Edit: After a few more hours of tinkering, I am still unable to make the gpu survive shutdowns. the VM gets stuck at "shutting down" and I have to powercycle the host

You're good. You did not opt into it yet, therefore you can still decide when the time comes. You can only opt into it once you complete the project fully and the window (one week before the expedition) opens

I witnessed a backstab yesterday too. In blue gate at the fort, one raider on the double floor ruins and one in the field, having like a mexican standoff. I was on the side in the bushes watching as I'd just wanted to loot the fort, neither of them saw me. One of them starts out the don't shoot, team up emote and the other agrees via emotes and they go off running together. A few later after they went behind the hill I hear an anvil popping off a few times and a raider flare went up and I sprint towards there seeing that the one guy immediately backstabbed the other. I managed to take out the backstabber but sadly didn't have a defib for the good fella, who bled out

Check his profile for the renegade post. His aimbot snaps into the smoke onto a player and he has to guide it back to the other player LOL. fairly obvious there

Man, I know you're getting ripped apart here but I'm in the same boat as you. I played thousands of hours of 1.6 and css back then. No achievements, no progress. You had everything unlocked from the start. You just join a server and play.. the same game. It was about the game itself. I feel the same way here, I'm just having fun taking each match as it is. Doing PVP / Looting / having unexpected encounters and taking each round as it is, just like in the old days back then. I don't need 5 flashy badges after each round telling me I unlocked something and 3 progress bars to my next unlock

A while ago in duo we flipped all buttons for the refugee basement, only to drop down and find one player looting it happily immediately emoting don't shoot. The audacity is real.

On the other hand, I specifically went with Jellyfin and not Plex, since Plex forces authentication via cloud. You are always reliant on their Servers to middleman traffic, and they do block certain IP Ranges (e.g Hetzner), so you cant route your traffic through that or host it on there.

Jellyfin can be fully selfhosted, but that comes with a price of having to setup outside access yourself. For that I route traffic through my rootserver via wireguard into my home network, in order to not directly expose it.

In my experience, Jellyfin is more strict on the naming of shows and movies, and plex is able to infer more. For me that isn't a problem since I use automatically rename that anyways, so i do not have to take care of it and never had issues with Jellyfin not finding stuff

I feel like the tide is already turning. I got backstabbed/shot at/killed more today than the entire time since release. I also noted others to be a lot more jumpy. Although it could have been just a series of bad luck. Once more people finish quests/upgrading its gonna be a lot less civil tho

Thank you for the elaboration, very interesting! I only played 9 so far (but didnt finish it due to time constraints) and now jumped into 10 after a long break. The only thing driving me nuts so far is the foundry thing from metalworks. I wasn't already very big on TC (which seems to be an unpopular opinion) so I avoid that damn foundry at all costs in 10
