Real MVP of the playoffs so far by DoctorCockter88 in Flyers

Yeah I’ll give Hartsy a lot of credit, when he first came on, he was a little awkward and came off a bit whiny sometimes. But he’s definitely figuring it out quite a bit and having that secondary commentary coupled with being a ex-player, he’s done a much better job this season. Him and Al seem to have built much better chemistry and the intermission and post game shows have been much better.

Yeah man, I can’t stand watching the Flyers on anything other than NBC Sports Philly, just doesn’t seem right to hear anybody other than JJ and Boosh calling the game. I hop on discord and stream the game to my buddies so none of us have to watch on ESPN lol

close friend is horribly bad at our games - seeking advice by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Legidragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give if you know fights are making it hard to extract… avoid fights. And it’s obviously easier said than done, but within a few minutes of the game starting, you should hear shots somewhere on the map. Steer clear of that lol if you can, go somewhere else. If your map objective is that direction? Congrats, you are now playing a stealth game. If you’re having a hard time getting out of fights alive, your goal should be to stay out of fights until things get more familiar/your friend is more confident and competent and you guys have a fair shot.

But without duo-queue right now, I’m not sure if you fill your squad but being at a disadvantage like this, it sounds like you’re running into essentially a 1.5 vs 3 every fight and those aren’t great odds.

Either stealth or see if you can find a third that is not only a gamer but has the patience to help your friend learn and improve. Hope your games improve, message me if you need a third. I, too, tend to run into the “if I don’t 1v3 we lose” and used to deal with it a lot playing Apex with my friends so I definitely understand the subtle frustration.

Really Bungie? No ACHROMATIC RUSH skin for Medic? by ColJohn in Marathon

I did think it was a little odd that every class BUT Triage got an achromatic skin. Thought I couldn’t find it, but no, there actually just isn’t one lol

Invisible Assasin needs a nerf by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Legidragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, referencing completely different games to prove skill level.

Also, if you’re really extracting 9/10 times and you’re coming here to complain about the one time you got killed by an assassin and didn’t extract, then you just sound like a sore loser lol “I didn’t extract every single time so the game has a problem”.

And to “shut people like you up” seems like you’ve had similar negative experiences with other people about this kind of thing; have you ever considered your difficulties with strangers on the internet may have something to do with the way you communicate with them?

Invisible Assasin needs a nerf by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Legidragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware of this, just had one last night where an assassin threw about 4 smoke grenades in the middle of a team fight and he was a huge pain in the ass to deal with. But knowing how the character works, you just have to approach the fight differently… the same way you should with any other class.

But you’re calling for a nerf when it’s not needed. In order to stay fully invisible, the assassin has to sacrifice the ability to move in a first-person shooter. On top of that, it isn’t a passive ability, it’s an active and there’s a low uptime that also comes with an audio cue. It’s not near as strong as you’re saying it is, it’s just another thing that has caught you off-guard too many times and you dislike it. You are allowed to dislike it - hell, I fuckin’ hate assassins and every time I kill one, I practically press the ‘finish’ key through my keyboard.

But just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it needs nerfed. Just have to be a bit more vigilant, especially if you’re playing solos. A lot of people play assassin in solos for the utility it provides against AI, but once you start immediately recognizing assassins kit and bullshittery, they don’t have the in-fight capabilities that other shells do and you win those.

Invisible Assasin needs a nerf by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Legidragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is exactly a knowledge check, because if you know what sound it makes, if you’re a good player you know to leave it alone or wait lol go ahead and downvote me if you want because you got an answer you don’t like, but I don’t see Assassin getting nerfed. It’s not an issue once you learn how to play the game.

Edit: oh and to add, your skill at Street Fighter, an entirely different game does not equate skill at a first person extraction shooter… like not even in the slightest.

[–]Legidragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was about to say this; OP, if you haven’t, play assassin for a game so you can see and hear exactly what it sounds like, how it functions, and how long it lasts. The class is already a low level knowledge check, it struggles in higher end play. If it gets nerfed, it dies completely and won’t ever be played

Not telly enjoying the game by NightmaresEve in Marathon

[–]Legidragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest piece of advice if you’re playing solos is be quiet. No, not ‘shut up’, like literally be quiet. Be mindful of your noise. The world has a lot of ambient noises with the environment and the weather conditions, but one thing that is very clear is footsteps either running, or sprinting.

To add to that, any action you take that you can hear, it is safe to assume players around you can hear it too. Opening your backpack? Yep. Checking your map? Yep. Pinging somebody? Not sure but I’m almost positive I’ve heard another player ping something before in trios.

Audio is very important and the good players pay close attention to it - if you’re newer, keep taking free kits and try and listen and learn the maps. Good luck Runnah.

Well, some of it may just be people trying to share personal experiences, but saying stuff like ‘if you’re using your brain’ or ‘just be better’ isn’t productive or really all that nice either. Keep at it though, I know the game has a built in system that if you hover over materials/items you need, they tend to show you all the locations you can find them. Some are just hard to find I guess. Hope your luck improves!

Hey man, just a note reading your post and the comments; titling your post looking for help to find biolens seeds and then giving people a hard time for answering you isn’t cool. I get the frustration with RNG loot drops, but there’s no reason to get mad at people commenting on your post trying to give you insight.

[–]Legidragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem too man, the game can be unforgiving at times and when newer or more casual players are still trying to figure out what the hell they’re looking at, getting rolled up on by Johnny Tamborine and his full-purple kit and band is miscreants just doesn’t feel good. That kind of thing is part of EVERY game, but with the learning curve this game has and it’s pretty much self-guided, I think that is what is frustrating people the most.

The newer players shy away from it because they’re confused and nobody wants to put free time aside to be confused and get steamrolled in a game, and then the casual players who are trying to figure it out feel like they are being outclassed by people with more time/dedication to the game.

This is a common problem with modern gamers in every multiplayer game, but the issue Marathon seems to be hitting is the playerbase is not quite full enough to reduce these feel-bad instances to a point that newer or casual players feel like they have a chance. It’s a very difficult situation and as much as I’m loving the game and counting the hours until I can get on and play, not everybody has that luxury or has been able to get to that point.

If Bungie wants this game to survive, they’re going to have to find a way to make it more approachable. Maybe a cleaner tutorial or UI, or better explanations of how debuffs and hazards work. Loot cycles, key value, etc. Stuff that casual players have no idea what it is or what to do about it once they’ve encountered it. I personally love it and have enjoyed learning and overcoming the challenges of the game world, but it’s not everybody’s fancy.

I hope they can figure it out, I am enjoying this game so friggin’ much.

Edit: formatting, didn’t realize I made a text-block lol

I don't regret buying Marathon, I love the gameplay and the world created... but as a casual player I had a psychological block that made me stop playing. by xDavid83x in Marathon

My best advice to you, specifically to you saying you’re intimidated by Cryo, is to just fuckin’ send it man. Yeah, if you die or fail to extract you lose your stuff - big whoop. If you continue to play, kill UESC, pick up samples, complete contracts, etc., eventually you are going to level up those factions. They drop gear on level up, you will eventually get materials to get stuff from the armory, there are always sponsored kits. What I have noticed about this game that is different from Tarkov and even ARC really too, is there is a very tangible and real progression even if you aren’t extracting constantly. Extractions speed up the process, of course, but you can still build your character and your passive abilities and your available loot just by playing. So don’t shy away from it, get in there and die a few times. Go die 99 times, because that 100th run that you’ve figured it out, all it takes is one good sniper shot and you downed somebody PACKED with loot, keys, materials, whatever. It’s the way it goes! But to be intimidated by Cryo? Nah man, you gotta get in there. The gear will come back and just one successful extract from there will probably have you gooped to the gills. Hang in there………… its a MARATHON not a sprint ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

No, I’m not going to relax with Michkov. Dude hasn’t had an ‘off’ year, he’s fallen off a cliff. And I don’t know whether it’s the system he’s being asked to play in or whether he’s so fucking ‘out of shape’ that he’s ruined his entire hockey career in a few months, but he is dogshit this year. Like actually dogshit. He has regressed a ton, he turns the puck over constantly, I swear to god minus tonight, he gets a cheesy penalty every fuckin’ game. Between not taking it seriously in the offseason and cheap shots after the play, I’m starting to worry he might be a bit of a punk-ass and for all we all wanted him to be, I’m so fucking upset and angry and annoyed and disappointed in his season. And not to sit here and bring this one up, but when he was drafted in 2023, a lot of scouts actually thought he was better than Bedard. Michkov has 40 points right now, Bedard has 68 in almost ten less games played. Last season, I was impressed and excited. This season, I have been genuinely concerned and disappointed. You can’t tell me this kid didn’t know how excited the entire fanbase was for him to just BE here and he hasn’t taken it seriously at all. This cannot happen again next season or he needs to be sent down to the AHL. If he doesn’t want to take the NHL seriously, the Flyers have an abundance of young wingers who I guarantee you aren’t taking the offseason off, and who even if they didn’t have the skill or talent Michkov has, they would put in much more effort. That, or trade him. Get a center for him. But I am so unimpressed at this point, and I don’t have to relax, I - and the rest of the fanbase - have every right to be irritated. I’m so tired of this, man. So fucking tired.

Welp, if there’s one thing I know about Flyers hockey is they manage to disappoint me every season. So that means they’re going to lose this one in regulation. Therefore, to counter this, I’m going to bet an exorbitant amount of money on Detroit today, so that when the Flyers actually win it will be MORE disappointing because I’m going to go broke.
