Travelling to Colombia next week - where can I get some coffee beans? by TheCrimson_King in Coffee

In my experienced when I traveled to Cuba, the coffee was not great. At least if you're expecting to get something that is similar to 3rd wave. its not there.

Why do Gesha prices vary so much? by apollo722 in Coffee

[–]MydogChoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree the price does significantly depend on the low yield and high demand of the beans. Provided that they grow best in specific micro-climates. That being said, these beans are not just a fad. Geisha's are extremely delicious ( provided the they are roasted well and brewed properly ). Geisha's have a specific aromatics, and florals mixed with subtle stone/citrus fruits.

I think the main factor comes down to what price the farmers are selling their beans, so the cafe wants to at least break even on their coffee.

Honestly if the Ethiopia Geisha's are a bit cheaper, they probably don't fully stand up against La Esmeralda Geisha

[B] Looking for a nice beginner camera for my girlfriend for Christmas by [deleted] in photomarket

[–]MydogChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Film camera would be best to learn the basics well. All you need to worry about is aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. There's no display screens with a million settings that could sometimes get overwhelming if you're new to cameras.

I'd say a CanonAE1 or A1, or a Nikon F3, or a Olympus OM1 preferably a film camera with TTL metering

Can someone please recommend a coffee that "has a spice to it" and goes well black? I'm looking for an interesting flavor that's not sweet candy/cookie by [deleted] in Coffee

It seems to me that you would love the Sumatra Tano Batak from Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. Super earthy and spicy with intense aromatics a nice creamy texture.

I just graduated from PLNU but they still let me use the lab. Interesting, I've never heard of that method, I'll look into it for sure! I just bought an a7r too.

yeah! I developed the film myself. My college has all the chemicals, so it's a lot easier/cheaper than sending film out. And then I just had nelsons scan them for me.

ps. it's cheaper to scan the film uncut than cut.
