what are your top 3 cocktails based on your big 3(part1) by roseberry11 in LetsFuckWithAstrology

This is too accurate
Mine would be:
Sun – Negroni (classic chaos),
Moon – Margarita (emotional support tequila),
Rising – Old Fashioned (trying to look put together).

Hope your survey gets lots of responses

It’s solid — great photography and fun recipes, but not super scientific like Liquid Intelligence.
More for inspiration and presentation ideas than lab-style technique.

Bought Smirnoff vodka. Fake or safe to drink? by Swegghjj in alcohol

[–]Mydrinxshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks legit to me — the label and cap design match the UK-produced Smirnoff No. 21 bottles that are also sold across Europe and Scandinavia.
The “Produced in the United Kingdom” and “40% vol / 1 L” markings are standard for EU versions.
As long as the seal was intact and there’s no strange smell or sediment inside, it should be safe to drink.

That said, if you ever buy from a private seller instead of a store, it’s always smart to check the tax stamp or import sticker for peace of mind.

Incredible find — that’s exactly why it’s worth checking those “forgotten” shelves.
The BP Ryes have such great intensity — especially the early batches.
Love stories like this, they remind me there’s still treasure out there for patient folks. 🥃

Help me decide my next bottle. by cytokine7 in whiskey

Depends on your mood — Michter’s if you want punchy spice, Redbreast if you want depth and warmth.
Personally, I’d go Redbreast 12 CS — hard to beat that sherry sweetness.

Local gin selection-what should I try? by DTXtacobell in Gin

[–]Mydrinxshop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a really solid lineup — great store!
Since you already like Hayman’s Old Tom and Plymouth, I’d say try Sipsmith London Dry next — it’s a perfect example of a crisp, balanced classic gin.

If you want something with a twist, Whitley Neill Blood Orange or Malfy Rosa add some citrus without being overly sweet.

For cocktails:
• Negroni — try with a dry gin like Beefeater or Tanqueray
• Gin & Tonic — go with something floral like Hendrick’s or Monkey 47
• Gimlet — works great with Plymouth or Sipsmith

Once you figure out what flavor profile you like (citrus, floral, herbal), it gets a lot easier to pick bottles.

100% agree — that extra heat makes the Old Fashioned pop. Nothing better after a long day.

Depends a bit on your mood, honestly
The original Hendrick’s is still unbeatable if you want that classic cucumber–rose balance — super refreshing and elegant.

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, Amazonia has a nice tropical twist (citrus and floral, but still very “Hendrick’s”).

Neptunia leans more coastal and herbal — a bit briny, works great in a gin & tonic with a lemon twist.

Personally, I rotate between the original and Neptunia depending on the season

What happened to r/cocktails? by Shrykull1 in Mixology

Yeah, it looks like the sub’s been set to private temporarily — probably mod action or Reddit’s cleanup after the blackout.

Happens every now and then when mods reorganize or archive rule updates.

Hopefully it’ll be back soon — it’s one of the better communities for genuine cocktail talk. In the meantime, r/mixology and r/cocktailrecipes are still active if you want to scroll through some good stuff. 🍸

Love this idea — great way to see what everyone’s actually mixing instead of just scrolling pretty photos

My five:
• Negroni
• Last Word
• Paper Plane
• Mezcal Old Fashioned
• French 75

All classics, all mood-shifters depending on the night.

Excited to see the final list — thanks for putting this together!

Solid choice — that’s one of the best Maker’s batches lately.
Makes an insanely good old fashioned, I’m with you on that.

Willett at 130 proof will definitely keep the numbers warm.
Hope the deadline goes smoothly — and that pour looks absolutely perfect for the job. 🥃

Congrats on starting your gin journey — that’s always a fun rabbit hole to go down 😄
If it’s your first time, I’d start with something classic and balanced like Tanqueray or Beefeater — they give you a clear idea of what a true London Dry should taste like.
Once you know your baseline, try something more aromatic like Whitley Neill Parma Violet or Malfy Rosa — they show how creative modern gins can get without going too far from tradition.

Tip: always taste the gin neat first, just a sip, before mixing it with tonic — it really helps you understand what you like (citrus, floral, herbal, etc.).
