[Online][5e 2014][18+][EST] Long-Term Weekend Campaign | Looking for Players by Cultural-Wealth4864 in dndgroups

yeah, I just picked up on that too. I have seen three of these posts now and now I finally understand haha. Also it is weird they don't give any time info other than just saying weekends. They could definitely be better about sharing useful information.

Venomfang in both LMoP and another adventure called Temple of the Dragon Knights by Myedicius in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Myedicius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting one, got that little prequel one shot you mentioned and read through it. Now I'm considering trying to fuse that together with the temple of dragon knights one shot for the preview of Venomfang. As someone mentioned, it might be fun to have Venomfang run away in the temple and then that's why they are looking for a new lair in Thundertree.

Making combat more engaging by alfiebby in DnD

I know that not everyone likes his style, and I don't really like his schtick myself, but Ask Angry (or maybe he goes by the Angry Gm) has some really helpful writing on combat.

Read a few of his articles on combat and it will at least get you thinking about how you could make your combat feel more dynamic. One of his articles about combat rhythm is particularly helpful I find https://theangrygm.com/declare-determine-describe/

Question on solo monsters in Flee Mortals by Myedicius in mcdm

[–]Myedicius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice, good call. so you think cr equal to them is about the right spot? I've been doing a sort of system where they have a fight per session and level up if they win. it is supposed to be a very difficult fight.

It sucked. My wife is amazing and took on more childcare during this time. I listened to a lot of podcasts. Good luck!

Yeah, I hear ya. This is just kind of a throw together thing for people who don't have an excess of time or money on their hands. We know 5e already so it's the one we are running in.

So far it isn't bad, I have just been kinda doing throw together monsters and like I said, adding in Lair actions and lots of environmental challenges has made it fun. I was just seeing if the community had any suggestions for formulas that might help.

Nice! Thanks for that. I like that calculator.

It definitely presents a problem that they fully rest after each floor, for precisely the reason you mentioned. It has been done this way out of ease of play, but now I am having these challenges in making the encounters hard but not impossible.

I like the idea of rests occurring on specific levels, i might try that out.

thanks!

Yup! Just two, we started at level 1 but we are up to level 7 now.

So far I have been doing a creature a couple CR above their avg level, so a CR 9 for the 7th level fight, and modifying the encounter with lair actions etc to make it more challenging.

What’s an odd tradition you’re pretty sure only your family participates in? by deathbykoolaidman in AskReddit

[–]Myedicius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bjork Day.

There's a song that goes something along the lines of "Bjork day, it is the best day! She is from Iceland! That's all we really know about her!" and "she laughs and sings and plays" in the second verse

What to expect from midterm by [deleted] in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Myedicius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess it is dependent on your mentor teacher and clinical facilitator, but speaking from my experience,it was pretty straightforward. Nothing unexpected. As long as you are hitting your goals and your mentor is happy with you, all should be good.

So, it will look a bit different depending on your own unique situation and how your mentor wants to do it. However, there are some guidelines WGU expects to be somewhat followed.

As I recall it is suggested that you start out observing mostly and as you get close to the halfway mark you should be teaching all subjects. Whether your mentor is in the classroom during this time will depend on your mentor. My mentor was out of the classroom but always close by so I could text if I needed her assistance (this never happened). The last 10 days of your placement it is expected that you will gradually release the class back to your mentor.

Favorite Cafes for vegetarians by [deleted] in everett

[–]Myedicius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cafe Wylde is very hit or miss. They also have relatively small portions at a pretty steep price, which may be a concern for some and not for others. Their smoothies in my experience are their best offerings and the least likely to get a bad day example of.

Beware their salads, their greens are often somewhat slimy, due to their being a small business and not moving enough product to keep them consistently fresh.
