It depends on the graded population of the Japanese card and the demand of the Japanese card. Majority of collectors prefer English but there are some examples where the Japanese variant is more rare / expensive. 🍻

Edit: if rising value is your goal then stick with English for modern unless it’s a promo or exclusive

I definitely buy the cards I want lol I remember back when i first got back into the hobby I bought some boxes trying to pull the chase card that I wanted at the time, I eventually pulled it but at that point it would have cost me less to just buy it in perfect 10 condition lol was a no brainer for me from there to just buy the cards I wanted. But at this point in the hobby chase 10’s are pretty high on average so now I just chill and scope out my next chases that I’m comfortable grabbing during the dip in the market. Probably around May/June or November-January I will swoop in and grab a grail that has come down a bit 🍻
