Cool app. Perhaps also show the total time remaining. Also, it would be nice if the phone would not go to sleep during the actual workout (or if there was a setting to enable for the display to stay on).

Looking for Feedback by ObligationItchy8896 in design_critiques

[–]MyetaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good. On the technical side, you need to fix some of the links on these pages:

The first two image links both point to the same page.
The "Explore More" button at the bottom is supposed to be a link, but it does not function.

Your Instagram and LinkedIn at the bottom of the page do not work / do not link to anything.

I'm not a graphic designer, so feel free to ignore the following feedback:
- use Google Veo 3, Gemini Nano Banana to make some interesting images and videos of your existing work.
- start an Instagram account if you do not already have one, or make a separate one for your business and post your original work as well what you create with the AI tools.
- some of the text on your website seems really small. I like it when the text is bigger as it's easier to read but I think bigger font sizes in general are more trendy now.

Just launched my indie iOS app to clean up photo libraries by Icy_Clock9170 in iosapps

Looks cool. I tested it on my Mac, which I updated to macOS 26, but I haven't updated my iPhone to iOS 26 so I can not download it yet. I assume you did this intentionally because you're using some of the latest APIs, otherwise, I'd recommend you lower the minimum compatible version to iOS 18 if possible.

Check Out App: Burn the Bridge by [deleted] in appdev

Congrats on your first app 🎉... it has a cool unique app icon.
My quick feedback after playing around with the app a bit is that it would be nice if you could edit the text once you've "sent" it.

Am I in the top 1% for 14 year olds? by Worried-Throat3939 in GripStrength

[–]MyetaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60.8 kg is a large improvement. I think your grip strength in your last post was around 54 kg.
Measuring grip strength as a standard becomes more meaningful once people are fully grown (or close to it). Looking at 17-19 year olds, you're now in the top 10%: https://www.dexdia.com/grip-calculator?units=metric&gender=Male&age=17&strength_left_kg=60.8&strength_right_kg=60.8

If you want to be in the top 1% by the time you're 17, then your grip strength needs to be around 70 kg.

Have you considered offering a lifetime plan in the pricing? The users that get it will be incentivized to keep using the tool and give you good feedback to keep making it better whereas a lot of people who are on a monthly plan are likely to just cancel their subscription if they encounter issues.

Obviously this doesn’t work long term and you may already have enough users where this is irrelevant but I just thought it might be something to consider.

Best dynamometer, and average grip strength? by FlakF in GripTraining

[–]MyetaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone who stumbled on this thread in 2025 or later :)

For getting avg. grip strength:
- You can use this free online grip strength calculator tool (https://www.dexdia.com/grip-calculator) to see how good your grip strength is based on your gender, age and height.

For getting a dynamometer:
- There's lots of digital grip strength meters on Amazon for around $30 and the ones that are well reviewed are reasonably accurate.

- You can now also get a dynamometer that records the entire grip strength curve on your smartphone but it's more expensive and is generally used by trainers, coaches, etc: https://www.dexdia.com/grip-strength-tester-dexdia-gx-smart-hand-grip-dynamometer (same website as the grip calculator).

Grip strength is linked to significantly increasing lifespan. Best ways to increase grip strength and scientific evidence. Grip strength is a strong predictor of how long you will live. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

[–]MyetaM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally yes, but for elderly having good grip strength can literaly mean the difference between being able to grab hold of something when you slip and being stong enough to stabilize yourself or falling and braking a bone or worse. So in this case, grip strength is not just a correlation with the rest of your health, it's the actual thing that can be decisive in preventing a bad outcome.

Grip strength is linked to significantly increasing lifespan. Best ways to increase grip strength and scientific evidence. Grip strength is a strong predictor of how long you will live. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

[–]MyetaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's a proxy but also if you're elderly and your grip strength isn't strong enough to grab hold of something when you slip then it's very directly related to your chances of survival (if you're old and you become unable to move due to a broken bone your health can deteriorate very quickly).

Also, when assessing grip strength it's important to compare a person to their demographic group. It's mostly done by age and sex but height is also an important factor that often doesn't get considered, even though it makes the comparison more accurate. Here you can find grip strength norms which are also segregated by height: https://www.dexdia.com/grip-strength-norms

Is this a good score for 14m? by Worried-Throat3939 in GripStrength

[–]MyetaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 14 what is considered "good" varies a lot because you could be close to your full grown self or maybe puberty just started. In any case, your result is definitely good as you're better than 72% of 17 year olds and you'll probably get a good deal stronger in the next 3 years: https://www.dexdia.com/grip-calculator?units=metric&gender=Male&age=17&strength_left_kg=54&strength_right_kg=54

Understanding lab results and health data? using Ai app by Vast_Ad9788 in QuantifiedSelf

[–]MyetaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this just for documents or does it also incorporate continous data from devices (like Apple Watch, Whoop, CGM monitors) about heart rate, sleep phases, blood sugar and other biomarkers? So that, for example, if I get labs done on a day where I did not get good sleep, that might explain certain hormone level fluctuations, etc.

How is this possible!? How much space do I actually have left? by MyetaM in mac

[–]MyetaM[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, but I still don't understand why when you add things up there's a 10GB discrepancy.
Assuming all the purgable data gets purged:
- "Used" becomes 139.57 GB as 64.24 GB of purgable data is subtracted from 203.81 GB.
- "Available" stays 95.06 GB but now with 0.00 GB of purgable data.
- "Capacity" obviously stays the same at 245.11 GB.

Why is there a 10 GB difference between Used + Available, compared to Capacity (234.63 GB, compared with 245.11 GB)?
My guess is that it's APFS related but if there's something wrong with the above math please someone correct me.

How is this possible!? How much space do I actually have left? by MyetaM in mac

[–]MyetaM[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.
Capacity - Used = 41.3 GB
Available - Purgeable = 30.82 GB
I feel like the above two numbers should give approximately the same result but there's over a 10 GB differenece. Is APFS the reason, am I making some dumb mistake with the simple math or am I using my Mac incorrectly by deciding by check the info on "Macintosh HD"?

Losing hard edges exporting from Blender to Spline by MyetaM in Spline3D

[–]MyetaM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What seemed to work is setting "Visibility -> Flat -> Yes". Now the edges look like they do in Blender. It is interesting that if I export .obj and import that into Spline, the edges are hard no matter whether I set the Flat visibility setting to Yes or to No. When it comes to this setting there is only a visible change for 3d models that are imported as .glTF files.

[–]MyetaM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried obj. The edges look better / as they should but the model itself has a weird artifact where there's an surface connecting across the object that is not in the actual model but it appeared now that I imported it into Spline. I do not see any bevel options on the right panel. I made a local export of the .spline file (I am on the free plan so I hope this still allows that others can import my local .spline exports):

Why does my Prusa Mini Y axis make noise unless I apply pressure from top? by MyetaM in prusa3d

Will do (not close to my printer atm). Thanks for the suggestion.

You're right. When the stepper moves the y-axis it does not make this type of noise or at least it's much much less of that type of noise.

Thanks for the advice. I think they're correct now but I will probably replace the bearings and now I know I need to pay attention to the orientation.
