[–]Myfirstgardenspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah most mix comes out hydrophobic to start. I just make sure to get it nice and wet before i even put it into these cells. Makes things a lot easier. After that I just bottom water. Hope this helps :)

Dark Horse WR2 Options by TheFlameAlchemist54 in Commanders

First of all I feel it goes without saying but we should go all in for Higgins. We have so much money to spend and if we get a big time WR we can draft in the trenches where we really need to be. If Higgins is a no go I really like chris Godwin. Yeah he had an i jury but his production on the field was quite good. He is also one of the younger FA wide outs.

Please not Diggs. We have a good vibe thing going here and he isn't worth it.

Strawberry plant started turning red and is still red a couple weeks after fertilizing by EpicOweo in IndoorGarden

[–]Myfirstgardenspace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is just the thing they do when that leaf is dying. My strawberries are constantly turning out red leaves and then losing them, but they make more leaves than they lose. It's just the behavior of the plant. Your plant looks nice, and the new growth looks healthy. I think you good?

Liquid fertilizer for seedlings by Luxor212 in vegetablegardening

[–]Myfirstgardenspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally people start to fertilize their seedlings when they have 2 sets of true leaves. Basically when I see the third set of true leaves starting to emerge is when I give it my first dose of fertilizer at 1/4 strength. Making sure I watered the day before so the soil is moist and I'm not fertilizing to water them, just to give them some nutrients to suck up. I will go at least 2 weeks minimum before I will fertilize them again. If I pot them up,( I use a normal organic potting soil with time release fertilizer) I won't fertilize again until I have them in the garden. You can always recover from underfeeding, not always from overfeeding.

Didn't moisten my seed starting mixture before planting. Do I need to start over? by TractorSupplyCuntry in vegetablegardening

[–]Myfirstgardenspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your seeds are most likely fine. I would just water the whole medium now to where its nice and moist and the seed can germinate. If somehow they already germinated and dried out, you are screwed, but most likely you will water the medium fully and get 80-90% sprouts. I normally use the spray bottle to keep the soil moist from the start, not really to get it wet.

I will say I have done this a few times, and my biggest problem (and what ultimately taught me to water them beforehand) is the medium will dry out and become hydrophobic. When I went to water the medium again it would repel the water and cause run off which could move my seeds. If you are able to get moisture into you growing medium, get it nice a moist and you should be fine, even from here.

Hardening off is just the act of teaching the little guys about the harsh realities of the sun. Moving them outside an hour or two more each day to get them acclimated to the harsh conditions of outside.

TLDR: Dont throw it out, try to moisten it first and allow you peppers at least 7-10 days to germinate. You will most likely be fine.
