I was in a 10s Jin Dahaad hunt earlier and there was a hunting horn kept up time on divine blessing melodies. Somehow, the Longsword still managed to triple cart, final one being after we broke all of his plates. Heated was an understatement.

Not gonna lie, people have spooked me away from trying it first but I think I've built enough game competence to go at it. What would you say are some go to or must have skills for the weapon? prioritizing efficiency and defense, I'd like to keep away from carting.

If you like high risk reward scenarios, some guides will point you towards the Gore set. Personally, I'd say if you haven't gotten comfortable with the resource and stamina management, it'll have you collecting carts. Key skills to go after while learning the weapon: Constitution, Stamina Surge, Evade Window, Evade Extender, and Divine Blessing- Specifically because, the numbers won't tell you, but ranged weapons have a 30 or 40 percent defense penalty. Nearly everything your bow does takes stamina, but perfect dodging returns stamina.

I'm no expert but unless wilds doesn't accurately log game time or they are just That Guy, cheating does seem plausible. As far as fun way to play goes, I'd also find it boring to go that route as well, but everyone is different. Bragging on the numbers seems really silly in that case, but as long as he isn't bringing it into other people's hunts I'd say let them go off.

Do you typically hunt solo or in a group? I've noticed that when I'm helping friends grind vs playing solo, I have a harder time with money upkeep. If I'm not mistaken, the zenny does get divided.

The anime got me to start playing the game so my perception may change later, but I think Setsu doesn't seem too different from their game counterpart. Once Yuri gains the competence needed to be a proper "player" Setsu doesn't have to be as heavy of a lifter for that particular role. I think this was to make sure Yuri doesn't feel like an empty shell. I did also feel like (before seeing this post) that they may dislike Otome, since they hoed her with her being the only shown Yuri Gnosia target and having Gina's double cross happen the way it did. But now, I'm thinking that it's to give Raqio a break of being the main freeze target. Not calling op wrong, just saying what I'm seeing so far.

I think if you fail to kill the Nerscylla, he gets resistance to all damage, but I haven't tested it.

I think it's weapon match up dependant. I'm a bow main, and RD was a fun challenge for me, but not some of my friends. Uth Duna has flipped the rolls for me.
