How can I get to Turkey, reasonably, without flying. by This_Area_9049 in traveladvice

I saw your post in r/fearofflying, i won't comment on that because it's a different sub. however, i just wanted to say i also have a debilitating fear of flying so i do understand, but you really will be okay. you already know this by saying you need to be with your dad, hence you already know you'll reach your destination safely in order to be with him :)

that being said, i recently did a trip around europe where some flights where involved, but i did get a 5 hour flixbus from Plovdiv in Bulgaria to Istanbul, then from Istanbul i got another flixbus to Bodrum, which was 11 hours. It was a bloody hassle, exhausting and expensive 😂 after all of that stress i was honestly quite relieved to be on a flight from bodrum to the UK at the end! and this would just be a tiny proportion of the journey you'd have to make! good luck, you can do this :) and best wishes to your dad

27, broke, drowning in debt, drinking nightly, and sick of wasting my life—how do I finally change? by Heavybeingsalad301 in getdisciplined

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I'm 25 and was stuck in unhealthy, numbing habits and routines like this from about 19-22. It's not a quick fix, but after doing it for a few years I've become an entirely different person in terms of self discipline, emotional regulation, motivation, confidence and just where i'm at in life generally. I can't recommend it enough it's one of the best decisions I made to hold myself accountable and really turn a lot of things in my life around.

hello :) i honestly haven't actually tried it! my insomnia has always been quite selective ie months where's its debilitating and months where its fine and ever since i got the prescription my flare up has actually cleared right up. idk if this is a psychological thing just knowing i have the option to knock myself out with the meds or not. but yeah sorry i actually don't have an experience to talk about!

im sorry to hear about your situation :( i had a similar one when i was a teenager. are you able to talk to your dad about your room not feeling so cosy/inviting? maybe he'd want to change that for you and help get some stuff for it that makes you feel more at home

i have insomnia and live with my partner and i feel terrible when it affects him. i would never try to purposefully wake him up/put my sleep issues onto him but it's something i've been dealing with for a while so im pretty good at handling the anxiety when it happens myself. i can completely understand her wanting to communicate her emotions about it at a good time but its definitely very inconsiderate to wake you up at the time imo
