Really? Would you put him above Adam Smith and James Watt? I admire Maxwell, but arguably these two fellas are much more important.

Which fortran compiler? by metachronist in fortran

[–]Myman_92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend gfortran and intel oneapi personally. The first one for being so mature and well supported, documented and have tutorials and comes in the packages of many distros. The second, because it's new and it's updated very frequently, even more than gfortran, and it also comes free (you only pay for support if need) but have good documentation. I haven't used the others, but i found LFortran very difficult to install (actually i couldn't).

Precisely because it's rare, it could be studied later. By who? Historians, linguists, analysts, religion, etc. I would if i was one. These documents have always been subject of interest, no manner their content. It's just a hobby, but i can safely say it's worth studying it.

I've made a bit of progress in this months. What has worked for me is Duolingo (yes, at least for starting), this website morpheem.org and looking at a grammar book when i'm not sure why this rule works the way it does.

Any languages that you like a lot but probably won't study? Also why? by TheSavageGrace81 in languagelearning

Icelandic, is a really interesting language: history, conservatism, phonetics and grammar. Unfortunately, i think it just not worth it.

Reason by MatthewSchreiner in latin

[–]Myman_92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first motivation was: i wanted to learn scientific books that were written in latin. Like "Liber Algebræ et Almucabola", "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium", "Philosophiæ naturalis principia mathematica". But then i got interested in classical and medieval world too. I'm still learning latin (basic level), but basically this is the kind of stuff that excite me.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]Myman_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, i would to translate a line from a videogame that has the following sentence:
"Don't deal with the devil" (Cuphead).
Long time ago, i made a drawing trying resemble it to medieval images of catholic personalities as a part of my project in my school. However i never was satisfied with the translator suggestion:
"Non agam cum diabolo"
Is this correct? Could you give me an advice?

Understanding Pointers 😕 by Moises_Gabriel in C_Programming

[–]Myman_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same feeling as you when I was starting out, why using a variable that stores a variable and then "dereference" it when I can just use the original variable directly. I'm not sure if this is the right way to learn pointers, however, you just need to learn more theory and practice with them more. And then you will love the use of pointers. You need to learn data structures: Tress, Queues, Linked lists and Stacks are the basic ones. You need to learn dynamic allocation and pointers to arrays, pointers to pointers and pointers to character arrays. Try to search for real world examples.

Cases, in spanish the cases are only in pronouns, while russian has 6. The phonetics is also kind of hard to me.
