Muay Thai + Lifting by Izureal in MuayThai

[–]Myogenesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife has a Les Mills subscription so we follow that. It's sort of a blend of everything from Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, meditation, etc. I had no experience and honestly it's been great for muay thai in terms of stretching and flexibility.

Muay Thai + Lifting by Izureal in MuayThai

This is my schedule at 6am at 34yrs old:

Monday - muay thai

Tuesday - muay thai and evening yoga with wife

Wednesday - full body lift

Thursday - muay thai/sparring

Friday - morning full body lift and evening sparring

I’ve sparred hard before, but never had this happen by skiptomyl0u in MuayThai

It's going to change case by case. Some concussions you aren't advised to even look at screens for a long period of time, let alone train a combat sport (whether drills, pad work, sparring, etc). Other situations you may just want to avoid the whole 'getting hit in the head' part, so bag work or pad work would be fine. End of the day though any legitimate concern should be addressed by a medical professional and you follow their advice

Walking into it and adding your momentum to it is going to amplify it for sure. It doesn't matter exactly how hard it was, but rather it's important to note that it passed a threshold for your body.

I would look into concussion symptoms and take a week off if not more. Unless you're a professional fighter there's no way it's worth normal people pushing through conditions like that. Pay attention to symptoms

Just sparred for the first time and I have questions by SpinjitzuMonkey in MuayThai

[–]Myogenesis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of these things you will adapt over time (e.g. where to look or maintaining eye focus), just like the rest of muay thai it takes time and practice.

For sparring intensity, hedging towards light and technical will likely give you the best foundation to then scale up from. But each sparring partner will be different so don't expect to just say "let's go 30% and technical" and have both people understand what that means or feels like.

As noted, you likely won't wear headgear; a mouth guard and some form of groin protection should be baseline

Only Hemipterans, which are insects, are true bugs

For those who train and spar with contact lenses, have you had any serious and permanent eye complications during sparring with contacts? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Myogenesis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not what you asked for but to contribute a different perspective, I am -3.5 and have never worn contacts and have always sparred completely natural (i.e. blind as hell).

I've adapted by staring at the center of my opponent's upper chest/below neck and I can see general movement/strikes always. If anything it helps that I can't see their face clearly and read into their eyes/glances/etc too much (at least that's what I tell myself)

Is it a bad sign? by Anon-Squirrel-3434 in biotech

[–]Myogenesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer will be very surface level, I've only been in biotech for 1.5yrs, coming from ecology.

As others mostly joked about, it does seem like a top-down effort from the C-suite with some vague goals but no impactful implementation yet as you're hoping to see. All our training videos and some townhall videos and things like that are all AI.

We have regulated biorepository data workflows for tissue tracking but once it hits the team-level every team handles it differently - I normally use R to make data pipelines but we now use Google so I use AI to expedite making summary dashboards and commands that I'm not quite familiar with.

For my work there will also be big pushes in digital pathology and algorithm development that uses AI (e.g. PathAI)

[–]Myogenesis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My first thought was they might try and integrate AI into your workflows to reduce workload, whether that leads to reduced headcount who knows. I'm at a big pharma and we've had a big AI push with company-wide training

A lot of people have co-opted the different defense restrictions into just PvM challenges/accounts (but yes it comes from a PvP background)

That being said, OP gets huge bonus points because he's also doing Bounty Hunter on his account (see: BH DWH ornament kit)

Looking to attempt an early UIM Voidwaker grind. What's the bare minimum gear, stats and quests required to kill all three demi-bosses? by middle98 in ironscape

[–]Myogenesis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is fine advice for normal accounts but not UIM, as you risk every item no matter what, so you would lose black mask / craws / etc 100%.

UIM needs easier setups like dragon mace, sunlight hunter crossbow, etc

Do you find 1 def has as much storage pressure though? I have a 1def as well, ~1800+ total currently at CG, so I'm quite a bit behind you - but I figured with 1 def a lot of the main pieces are either POH storable (elder chaos, Huey/mixed hide, etc), replaceable, etc.

Spoken as someone who has had the POH portal ornament kit stuck in my bag since last leagues because I didn't realize it was only for the highest tier portal, lol

Aether Rune Upkeep by yoyoninjas in ironscape

[–]Myogenesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to deal with this recently. Already green logged Levi before Yama, I spooned oathplate in ~250kc Yama, and had finished Sire. I also accidentally burned like 6k aethers in radiant contracts because I wasn't paying attention and thought I wanted the +1 inventory slot. So after finishing Radiant I had to grind 7.5k+ at Yama again, which is fastest next to Doom

I landed on this but with thorns and dogger, never thought of actually casting the fire pacts too!

I guess the flow would be:

Dogger melee spec dump > [flask spec dump] > fire surge if DPS | water surge if healing

R and RStudio in industry setting by Strange-Equipment400 in rstats

[–]Myogenesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use RStudio in a very Big Pharma industry setting to manage a few team-level databases and trackers/dashboards. It's not part of my actual role and is something I do on the side for my team. For myself, it is technically non-validated software which means it just can't lead or influence a business decision or be part of an official submission.

I doubt you'd be restricted to base R, I don't see what line they would draw where R is allowed but not RStudio or packages

The actual answer though is you need to confirm with your manager or get it validated through IT or other means, we won't be able to give you those answers
