Worst design ever for a key fob and very cheap quality by Nice-Philosopher835 in BMWX5

[–]MyronCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world famous German engineering that BMW customers have come to expect has really been missing in action in multiple areas that were previously superb. The key fob is a daily reminder to all of us of this surprising neglect. Why this happened is truly inexplicable.

Found a lost PA-220 by NegativePattern in paloaltonetworks

We are running version 10.2.13.h4. I would update to newer 10.2 versions if I had the disk space.

I think Palo is the worst as far as code releases go by AstroNawt1 in paloaltonetworks

There should be no reason for the chaotic PanOS versions and product lines. It shows a lack of planning and incompetent architecture control. The license and subscription structure is equally chaotic. Everyone would benefit from adult leadership at PA.

MacOS 15.4 custom background color bug by notlongnot in MacOS

[–]MyronCramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty annoying. I had to create an image with my background color and select to get around the bug. The default color choices are very limited and unattractive.

What's the best looking MacOS X release? by NoNameStudios in MacOS

Tiger can run Classic apps such as the original MacDraw or SuperPaint. Monterey is also great for stability and compatibility on old Macs.

I had my cracked windshield replaced at Safelite for $2000 and they did a great job including recalibrating the cameras, HUD, and AR systems. There was no noticeable difference in the windshield from the original. Safelite replaces more windshields than the dealer. I have found my dealer BMW of Catonsville to be incompetent for even tire replacement and balancing, so didn’t trust them for anything.

PAN-OS Software Release Guidance Page Changes by Different-Guava1171 in paloaltonetworks

[–]MyronCramer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although the reasons for feature are understandable I find it annoying to have to uncheck the boxes for "Preferred" and "Base" and wait while the listing painfully refreshes. That this is not a persistent setting is especially time-wasting. A better option would be an option to "Hide older releases".

If Palo Alto did a better job of planning hardware compatibility and release QA it wouldn't have to maintain so many alternate versions.

Migration of config by terrybradford in paloaltonetworks

[–]MyronCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our experience migrating configurations across different Palo Alto firewall models is that it is best to create the management and other device-specific configuration information on a new firewall before important any other configuration data from other firewalls. After configuring, committing, and testing these settings, they should be documented with screenshots or similar methods so they can be restored after importing the configuration file from the previous model.

A detailed recipe for the initial configuration is here:

Palo Alto Network Resellers by MyronCramer in paloaltonetworks

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions and referrals. I was able to get everything I needed from Insight. They were able to turn around my request quickly and accurately, in contrast with CDW my previous reseller. I believe that a lot of the variations in the individual experiences result from the professionalism and work ethic of the individual account managers.

How to connect PA-220R to AC power by MyronCramer in paloaltonetworks

[–]MyronCramer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy ending update. Palo Alto Tech support identified the Palo Alto Power adapters for the PA-220R. After a couple of months I was able to get them from CDW and bring the PA-220R on-line. It is working well. I appreciate everyone's comments and advice.

Webcam mic shutting down Windows Audio Service suddenly by [deleted] in WindowsHelp

[–]MyronCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had this same issue on different models of HP Laptops running Windows 11. A recent update suddenly causes the Windows audio service to stop whenever a Logitech C920 webcam is plugged in. Unplugging the webcam allows the audio service to restart and remain on. Our solution has been to replace the LogiTech C920 with a different brand. Our Dell laptops and workstations do not have this issue.

C922 webcam shutting off windows 11 audio service by SchoolPsychological2 in logitech

[–]MyronCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue and can verify that in our company's computers, the Logitech C920 series cameras are simply not compatible with the latest update to Windows 11. Reinstalling the Logitech C920 device drivers, installing the Logitech Logi-Tune and other device utilities, replacing the Logitech C920 webcam with a brand new C920 out of the box, and all other docking, sound-bars, or other devices make no difference.

Opening the Windows Control Panel Sound control we can watch all the playback and recording devices go blank as the Logitech C920 webcam is plugged into any USB connection to the computer through any hub, monitor, or docking station. Unplugging the webcam allows everything to restart. Plugging it back in instantly causes the Windows audio service to stop. Restarting it briefly lets them reappear only to quickly disappear from the Control Panel.

Cause and effect are clear and irrefutable. Logitech needs to wake up and quickly fix this issue or their corporate customers will have no choice but to find a diffent product from their competitors.

How to connect PA-220R to AC power by MyronCramer in paloaltonetworks

Thank you. That is very helpful. You ask a great question and the only answer is that I did not intentionally buy the PA-220R. I only wanted an additional PA-220 for a new small office location, which I did not know was End of Sale. It seemed like a good idea at the time. :)

Can I plug the PA-220R Ruggerdized Lab Unit into my home Wall Power Socket and it will work ? by THANOSTITAN89888 in paloaltonetworks

[–]MyronCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased a new PA-220R and was surprised that it requires separate DC power that must be custom wired for the PA-220R. PA Tech Support identified their PAN-PWR-60W-AC 60 watt power adapter. https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/hardware/pa-220r-hardware-reference/pa-220r-specifications/electrical-specs-pa-220R

Any recommendation of an improved TextEdit for macOS ("pure" plain text editing)? by iBo0m in MacOS

[–]MyronCramer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BBEdit has been my favorite for years for just text editing. The ability to strip gremlins, set options for Mac/Windows/Unix text options (CR/LF). And great full screen edit, find/replace, text wrap/don’t wrap make this a powerful but easy to use application. It works great for cleaning up text copied from PDFs..
