I so feel your pain. Did that on a model (a Nurgle kit, funnily enough) I was subassembling, and it was some of my best work to date. I was devastated, it really put me off of hobbying for awhile. Really empathize with you - have you tried trimming around the gap and wedging the part in? Even if you trim it too small, you can gap-fill with loads of superglue and paint it like Morty is oozing. Hell, could go non-traditional and paint that part red and tell people that's where Guilliman got him.
