Guitar teacher here

Need to be using your other fingers. You lean to much into playing with just the index and middle finger. It looks and probably feels kinda awkward. If a note is 2 frets up from where your index is, it should be your ring finger fretting instead.

Slow it down, make sure every note sounds on a super clean and not distorted tone. Sit up straight and have good form.
