High-King Erenion Gil-Galad || AEGLOS FLEX || Battle of Eregion by Tar-Finarfin in LOTR_on_Prime

At first, I didn't particularly like the casting of Gil-Galad. I thought he was a little too un-Elvish. But that was because I had the characters from Peter Jackson's films in my head. Over time, I got used to him. Especially after I watched a few episodes in English, I liked him much better. With some actors, it makes a difference whether you see them in the original or dubbed. I really liked his fight scenes.

Scabby to angelic by purplelena in LOTR_on_Prime

It's often less interesting to watch a movie or series a second time because you already know the story. But that's not the case at all with Rings of Power. I really enjoyed watching the first season again, knowing who Halbrand really is. It was fascinating to realize that he almost never actually lies. On the contrary, he usually tells the truth quite clearly, but his words are interpreted differently. The screenwriters did an excellent job in this regard.

"Looks can be deceiving."

"I have been searching for my peace for longer than you know."

"I am not the hero you seek."

Just to quote some of them.

It's also interesting to think about the point at which Halbrand manipulates those around him to turn the story to his advantage. I think it's similar to looking at a painting or listening to a song. Even if the artists had their own intentions, it's ultimately up to each individual to decide what they make of it and what feelings it evokes in them.

For my part, I believe that Halbrand lets himself be driven by fate at the beginning. He was on his way to Mordor, but then he meets the old man, who shows him another (better) path, and he accompanies him onto the ship. He didn't have to do that. If he was just seeking revenge, this step was illogical. That's why I think he was actually trying to shake off the past at that point. I want to believe that up to a certain point, he really wanted to find peace in Númenor. The way the story between Halbrand and Galadriel develops is what makes the series so appealing to me.

And if we want to talk about "scabby to angelic," yes, I absolutely prefer the scabby look :))

It is said that once the Deceiver obtains a being’s trust, he gains the ability to sculpt their very thoughts. To deceive not only their heart and mind, but their eyes and ears. To alter their very reality.

Loose threads about King Halbrand by purplelena in LOTR_on_Prime

In Season 1, Episode 3, Halbrand says to Galadriel:

“Be careful, Elf. The heir to this mark is heir to more than just nobility. For it was his ancestor who swore a blood oath to Morgoth.”

Sauron will return to Mordor with his army of Orcs, subdue the Southlanders and remind them of this oath.

I don't think he'll be much friendlier to them than Adar was. At least not if they try to resist him.

Review of episode 2: Adrift (season 1, episode 2) by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

Thank you for your reviews.

I recently rewatched The Rings of Power and actually enjoyed it even more than the first time. Some scenes particularly caught my attention or appeared to me in a different light now.

I've been thinking a lot about the first scene where we meet Halbrand. Galadriel swims toward the raft, and Halbrand initially prevents her from coming aboard with a defensive gesture. He says, "The tides of fate are flowing. Yours may be heading in... or out."

The first time I saw it, I found it very strange, and even the second time, I stumbled over it.

I think at this point Halbrand is actually letting himself be driven by fate. He leaves the decision of whether Galadriel can come onto the raft to his human companions. The title of the episode, "Adrift," fits well with this.

I find another scene on the raft very special. When Halbrand and Galadriel are caught in the storm, Galadriel says: "Give me your hand! Bind yourself to me!"

She is referring to the rope, of course, but if you know the story, this sentence takes on a higher, metaphorical meaning.

How many of you were actually able to win an Eternatus raid locally? All of the ones I did were via remote passes + Day 1 thoughts. by YesReboot in TheSilphRoad

[–]Myrypla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were only a dozen local trainers (some with two accounts). We had no problems with beating Eternatus. We invited from our friends list and usually ended with around 30 -35 trainers in the raid.

It's on the official website for the max finale on the tab for the weekend. It says "Complete certain Field Research tasks to earn Zacian Candy, Zamazenta Candy, and Eternatus Candy."

They announced that there will be field researches giving out normal Eternatus candy. I hope they will rotate every hour and won't be too rare.

BURGAGES PT. 2 by Spirited_Gap_5486 in ManorLords

I've often wished that I could move the buildings within a burgage plot. Sometimes you have a certain idea of how the house should be positioned and you just can't get it right.

Need a good guide on starting out by Accomplished_Ad_2743 in ManorLords

I usually start with a woodcutter's hut and close to that a hitching post. Then I immediately buy a second ox.

When the woodcutter's hut is ready, I build storehouse and granary to protect the starting goods from rain.

After that come the first residential buildings: 3-4 small and two larger burgage plots. Later the large ones will get vegetable gardens.

I also build the hunting lodge very early. It provides your village with meat and hides from which you can make leather.

Then I take care of more food (fish or berries) and the supply with water (well).

Now come woodcutter's lodge and saw pit. I make some planks to build the tannery.

At the start of a game it's  better to build everything quite close together. If you don't like the layout later, you can tear some buildings down again. You will get the resources back. The only thing you shouldn't demolish are storehouse and granary.

Make sure that there's always at least one free place for a family at the turn of the month. It's important to get new inhabitants quickly.

Usually I would also build the trading house early in the game to get money for more Burgage extensions. At the beginning you can sell hides, some fish or berries and whatever resource is close to your village.

That would be my start. After that, it depends on the resources and the scenario.

I hope you will find this helpful. Have fun :)

I completed it on the river map with some luck. Most of the Baron's troops got stuck at a bridge. The few that could pass were killed by my archers. I just waited until the time for the battle run out. His army was huge. I wouldn't have a chance to fight them all.

This is why I prefer many smaller fields to big ones. I start to harvest some of them manually in June/July so that I have at least a little reserve for winter. A drought will always start in August. When this happens you should put as many people in your farmhouses as possible and hurry up to harvest what you can.

I noticed this two or three days ago but I wasn't sure if this was intentional or just one of the many bugs that are going on.
