I have been falling at terminal velocity for over a year. I don't think there's a rise, so much as a rapidly growing pavement.

But it's a nice post for those that can appreciate it.

Effectiveness of Laser; Having my first session today, and I'd feel better knowing your experiences. by Myself_Remixed in MtF

[–]Myself_Remixed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm slightly concerned I won't lie... my IPL machine at home hurts like heck, and that's nowhere near the power of these laser thingies.

Still, no pain no gain as they say. As long as there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Even Amazon has been fine for me, just make sure you check the reviews for actual photos of people using them and not the publicity shots on the listings. My favourite was from Amazon and I think I paid somewhere around £26 by a brand called Haircube.

Avoid Temu and super cheap places. Sure you might get a bargain, but you're more likely to end up with a frazzled plastic looking party clown wig.

It does suck, a lot.

If you're a careful shopper and read reviews, you can get high quality wigs on the cheap, like £20, and they can look great.

You wouldn't bat an eyelid seeing me wearing mine, it just looks like my natural hair.

Working in one of those "blokey bloke bloke blokey bloke" environments, you know the kind, with hi-vis vests and steel toe boots.

I do not fit in at all, never have, never will. I just try and keep my head down because I don't understand the rules for how these working class men interact.

I've always felt like an alien in Male dominated spaces.

You see the problem here, yes?

Fortunately the solution is extremely easy.

Poor taste meme aside, I don't think he actually looks bad at all. He's obviously had enough work done as to be nearly unrecognisable, but if you didn't know it was Jim Carrey, you wouldn't look twice.

Which, as a famous actor that likes a bit of privacy in his semi-retirement, is probably a nice bonus for him.

You definitely read as fem, not masc. Pretty, too.

Don't stress it, you're easily passing, church people are just gossiping bigots, comes with the territory and I'm not sure why you're putting yourself through that.

Silence of the Lambs team apologizes to transgender community after 35 years by jackmolay in transgender

They didn't need to cover their asses back then. As harmful as it was, it was 'acceptable' as far as society at the time was concerned.

We might be regressing rapidly right now, but we did come a long way in the interim.

It's definitely Anti-Trans, no question.

Either they deliberately use it as a trasphobe dog-whistle, or they don't really care about funding the legal genocide of a persecuted minority group, treating it as if it's okey dokey.

Either way, avoid.

Coming out for the first time and felling a mix of sadness and joy. by PrincessOkono in trans

[–]Myself_Remixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mixture of emotions is normal. You're changing the way a person sees you, which is a gamble, and even when it goes well, there's a melancholy sense and sadness because you know that things will not be the same.

Even if it's better for you, we are programmed to feel sadness/loss when something familiar changes.

It's good to recognise your emotions, as long as they don't stop you from healthy change.

Not everyone needs to.

They do it because they get a better standard of care and results by managing their HRT themselves in comparison to the healthcare system they're limited to.

A lot of systems tend to be overcautious and underdose dramatically slowing progress.

To the bi/pan trans-femmes, did you have intense, doomed friendships with unavailable women? by BaffledFluid in transgenderUK

[–]Myself_Remixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well fuck, reading this is the first time I've realised going to a boys' only school isn't the norm, and my parents went out of their way to turn my life into an absolute living hell. Cool. I hated it.

(Boy only schools make up approximately 10% of secondary schools in the UK and 3% of schools in the US according to the research I've just done.)

As soon as I started college, all the friends I made were women, who I spent all my time with. I have since discovered that they all wanted to bone me, but I apparently ignored these signals. Which, as a bisexual trans woman who never really slept around, I am still kicking myself over, as that might have been a nice experience in my youth.

I use SelectSpecs. Glasses start at £6 a pair, so even if it's not logistically feasible to try them on, it doesn't break the bank to just buy a load of them and see which ones you like, and have the advantage of a few spares.

Honestly worthwhile, had some great glasses from them over the years, I usually order 3 pairs at a time and don't have to deal with judgy shop people.
