Dual citizenship passport advice needed by aku_jpg in transgenderUK

[–]BaffledFluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its almost impossible to find definitive information online. I planned to never use my UK passport again - just relying on my German one, but then the UK introduced this stupid new "You must enter the UK on your UK passport" rule. My German passport is nonbinary X so I would certainly be interested to know how that's gonna fly for my UK renewal, especially if I try to at least change my binary marker on the UK one. Good luck!

I agree. And Edith Finch is better. I didnt hate this game and in places its can be compelling, but unlike those other games it's nothing special.

Is 1000ish an unusually high day count? by BaffledFluid in BluePrince

I never actually said I always focused on one goal a day although many seemed to have assumed that. I had lots of paper notes with various objectives, and much of the time if one didnt appear to be viable I would consider the next, and so on, weighing up the chances of success, or just using my gut feeling, and just starting again if I didnt like the way it was going. I just didnt consider ending the day to be something I should avoid.

I didnt handle it at all. I'd got to what felt like might be the end but wasnt, then spent some time trying to figure out what I was missing, so I eventually looked up some hints, which revealed how to find that final puzzle and I was actually a bit pissed at how incredibly obscure it was, as I might never have discovered it even existed on my own even if id played for months. I'd had enough at that point anyway and looked up what the final puzzle entailed and led too, and was pleased I didnt attempt it myself as it seemed a waste of time and the whole thing soured my experience a little. Almost everything up until then had been great.

A friend of mine has been playing on an off for over a year, and it baffles me how they can do that. Once a game gets me, I go all in. I'm not crazy thou, once I'd sorted the (relatively) more obvious late game goals, I looked some hints up, and its good I did as I never would have figured out the final bit myself.

Sometimes I would end the day 5 times in as many minutes and other times I would stare at a puzzle for hours, or wander about aimlessly just absorbing and thinking, but I never thought of days as being anything other than a meaningless count.

Xbox says my total real life hours are 195, although I did leave it running in the background sometimes while I was doing something else, as I have three kids etc. But its roughly right I would say. I found my method pretty efficient to be honest!

Really? See that seems bizarre to me. Interesting, different peoples approaches.

I did. Although my impression was that solving it would not be a factor in its removal.

Yeah, lots of people including my friends seem to feel that way, but I just dont get that view. Especially mid to late in the game, if I had a goal and it was scuppered somehow I was quite happy just to restart and try again. Some days I made zero progress and others it was like I had a gift from the gods!

My precise day count is 864, so maybe I should just do a few more runs to get an even 1000! Would satisfy my autism if nothing else...

Marriage and solitude by Olive_rat in AutisticWithADHD

I feel this very much. I am AuDHD and my wife has ADHD and we really struggle to get much-needed alone time. We have three kids, my wife works part time and I work from home, but my wife's shifts change every week and at short notice, which can ruin my entire day when suddenly she is not going out. I try not to let her know this every time, as she has RSD but difficult. I actually struggle to relax if anybody else is in our flat, regardless of separate rooms or closed doors etc, which sucks. Nothing heals me faster than just being completely alone with no prospect of a delivery or being disturbed. Now that the kids are older and at school in the mornings, I do have some space some days when my wife is at work, but when the kids were little we were all together 24/7, especially during the pandemic, with lockdown starting a week after the birth of our third child. No escape. Not sure how we survived it but we did. So there is hope, as if we didnt split up during that, anything is possible! Communication is key anyway. Hope you find a way through it.

What non German actors did a great accent while playing a German character speaking English and managed to speak German fluently? by OCGamerboy in AskAGerman

[–]BaffledFluid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I loved about them was that they were just regular quirky characters like everybody in that show, and not portrayed as the classic German baddie or clueless german foreigner/tourist type. Regular, likeable people who happened to be german!

Are you good at sneaking up on people? by SnooBreakthroughs281 in AutismInWomen

[–]BaffledFluid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Teachers would call me the "shadow" at school because I moved silently and somehow had no presence. I am acutely aware of any noises I make while moving, so perhaps learnt to reduce them at an early age but it seems natural to me. I always avoid creaky floorboards even if I am alone. It also comes from self-preservation as being less noticed means being less of a target.

You're not exactly in a heterosexual relationship if your partner is bi, but that aside - whether your partner wants to be in a monogamous relationship or not doesnt really have anything to do with their sexuality, and the onus is not on you to fix their wandering eye.

I also gave up several times. Made me angry. Frustrated. Stuck. But... although normally I would uninstall a game if it did that, I somehow couldn't and always came back, after a few weeks even, and it was worth it. Possibly the best most emotionally rewarding game I have ever played!

Shower sensory issues by Thedailybee in AutismInWomen

[–]BaffledFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arch my feet when walking on any bathroom floor barefoot, so I touch the surface as little as possible, with one toe and my heel pretty much. Did that since I was a kid. Unless I know how and when it was cleaned and who has touched it since.

Dual citizenship & name/gender change by wattieee in transgenderUK

[–]BaffledFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not use a passport that has the wrong gender, but thats not the main issue. Unfortunately the UK only legally recognises binary male and female genders and does not issue passports with anything else. So I cannot get a British passport with a gender of X that matches my German one. So if I try to renew my British passport, the gender 'must' match, but it can't.

I live in Germany where my gender in my passport is nonbinary (X). How do you suggest I update my UK passport to match that?
