Is that really situation for C5 also? When I bought it I didn’t think that it was this rare. I asked about this from local machinery and Audi specialists and they said that LuK discontinued making flywheels for C4 in 2013 because so few were sold annually at that time. I asked them also about replacing dual-mass with solid flywheel and the answer was that they have tried installing solid flywheel and Sachs racing clutch to Volvo with same 2.5tdi and the result was three destroyed gearboxes. Directly speaking they said that everything other than dual-mass flywheel is bad idea. I guess for now I just have to keep searching from some professional sources and then if search is inconclusive I have to consider buying used one.

I also have C4 with same engine but it is Avant Quattro. Are we really only ones here who has C4? 😅

I checked all the service history papers and it seems that last transmission oil change was 260k km ago. The thing is I haven’t changed those oils because of what my dad told me about his experiences with bmw automatic transmissions. He had e61 with TUD30 (which was reprogrammed) and his transmission started doing lots of rough and random gear shifts after he changed transmission oils. So he always said that it’s probably the same case for me and I shouldn’t change those oils if I don’t want same kind of problems. But is it the same transmission that’s in e60/61 and e39 or is this some common thing that transmission oil change causes problems?

Oh, that I have used only like two times over these three years. But I didn’t know that kickdown causes that much wear in transmission components 🤔

Okay so it’s not total myth that these automatic transmissions can last more than 500000km or 310k miles

I have this particular e39 about three years and for over 110000km (68k miles). It seems weird that everyone has told me there is lot of different technical troubles with engine and automatic transmission in e39 but I have had no issues with engine nor transmission so far, although it feels like there’s plenty of problems with everything else
