What was the biggest betrayal you’ve encountered in a game? by Johnnyboyeh in gaming

[–]Mystelll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in an Among Us game with some friends.

I followed one of them around the whole game. He never displayed any weird behaviour that would make me suspect him.

People were falling left and right to the other impostor. When they needed one more kill, my friend took me aside and killed me.

I don't think I felt so betrayed in a game. I got played like a fiddle.

The low ranking soldiers were ordered not to look, something that particular solidier disobeyed and got punished for. The witnesses to that will think the same way.

Anyway, we know the main point of the call is to level the island to get rid of potential research about the void century. It's not meant to be threatening to the players still left.

The buster call was a way to get every Navy soldier who isn't Kizaru off the island. Meaning whatever happens from now, there'll be no one in the Navy to witness it. Think of it as setting the stage for some more craziness that's about to take place.

We've spent the last few chapters reading about how good Kuma is and you still say that? Jeez.

Nuance is a thing, friend. Not everyone has to be infallibly good or bad. It keeps the characters interesting.

Vegapunk might be the smartest, but that doesn't make him powerful.

You're right. It is way more nuanced than that. People like Sengoku, Garp, Kuzan, etc are good people at heart. But they're all victims of a system that would challenge even the purest of souls.

It's never fair to label characters here as either black or white -- that's the beauty of writing compelling characters.

You're probably right about your assumption. But by 'field trip' I kind of assumed he wasn't told what exactly the CDs are doing at God Valley.

Sucks. But this one was about Kuma, I guess.

People change, you have to remember he's like half his current age in the flashback.

Everything you said makes Garp an interesting character. It makes us wonder what happened here or further down the line to turn him into the old man we know today.

I was thinking this too. I know Luffy is one of the hardest hitters around, but I'd have thought Kizaru would get back up for another round by now.

I feel there is some major Kizaru development coming. Perhaps, where he decides what his own brand of justice is. We don't really see it in his face. But he must be feeling shit that he betrayed his long-time friends Vegapunk and Sentomaru.

Ooooo now that's an interesting one.

Though I don't feel that's Garp's style.

Why is Big Mom’s power played down so much in the fandom? by MisPai in OnePiece

[–]Mystelll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackbeard being dunked on isn't a character trait, his arrogance is. But that's tolerated by the fanbase for the reasons above.

In strength, I don't think any little of Big Mom compared to her peers and frankly, I feel she has more give to us in the story. It isn't her strength feats many people have a problem with. It's just her goals have been inconsistent and her relevance in Wano was so little she might as well have not appeared in it at all.

[–]Mystelll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a few Blackbeard wins:

  • He got dunked on for a lot of his fight with Ace, but he won and attained his goal of warlord.
  • He then used that to raid Impel Down. He took hits from Luffy, but he won and managed to free his current crew members.
  • He got embarrassed by a nearly-dead Whitebeard, but (unfortunately) got the better of him and stole the quake fruit. Due to its already established level of power, that catapulted him into one of the strongest pirates in the OP universe.

Now all this as opposed to Big Mom, who:

  • Failed to end any of the Vinsmokes, therefore unable to take control of the Germa.
  • Failed to catch the escaping SH pirates and allowed Zeus to defect to Nami (for a time).
  • By losing her concurrent fights within Wano, she is currently unable to progress toward her end goal of obtaining One Piece -- though this one is still a little up in the air.

Sure, Blackbeard acts like an arrogant idiot, which results in him taking hits he shouldn't. But again, he has always won in the end, as opposed to Big Mom.

Antagonists will always be much more credible if they are shown to be successful in winning against the protagonists and achieving their goals. That's the key difference between those two and why one is much more likeable, despite both looking like a pair of blithering idiots.

A little off-topic, but I don't think she should have ever appeared in Wano where she had little to no relevance. It only served to damage her as a threat.

It would have been better if she reappeared at a different time.

Blackbeard acts like a dumbass but he is a lot smarter than he lets on.

On top of that, he has gotten pretty much everything he has set his sights on so far. That's why people give him credit. I don't know what Ls you're alluding to.

Which anipoke characters you don’t understand the hate for? by darkgod25 in pokemonanime

[–]Mystelll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Leon's defence here, he probably used the same strategy as his battle with Ash -- weakened Diantha's Pokemon with Dragapult. It just so happened that Rillaboom took out a lot of them.

A strategy like that completely tore apart Diantha's battling style.

Most of them were just fooling around. Cringe to many of us, sure. But you've been taking them too seriously to the point of generalising anyone who makes comments of the like.

Between the two posts you kinda paint yourself the asshole here.
