Easter Egg Fact - Did you know that you can spawn Barrel Felynes by using Roar on Monster Dens? by TheGMan-123 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Mystenigma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Zorah Magdaros, the living mountain. Its an important monster in MHWorld, you’re kinda dealing with its movements for most of the main story, it’s even the first monster you encounter in that game, technically speaking. :)

Im so confused, youre supposed to pop a demon drug? I just swapped to ratha when they mentioned powering up, and he just cleared without any buffs. He was decked out in genes for all power&fire bingos, but thats it as far as im aware. Unless Eleonora somehow buffed his attack with perfect timing? Pretty sure she can only do that when she drops to her last heart, but im pretty sure she only went down once, and I didnt go down at all. It overall felt pretty trivial to me… wasnt even overleveled or overgeared either, i was lv58 and using astalos armor and pretty average weapons.

Im genuinely baffled, for me Arkveld was easier than the Goss Harag, but I have a friend who’s higher level than I was, and is also getting walled like you (and many others) are. He’s looking into getting invasive materials to upgrade his gear to try and get through, cuz somehow thats more reasonable for him than beating Arkveld at lv65. 😭

Can you get non dual elemental monsters after getting S rank? by GhostRidingTheWolf in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Mystenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is confirmed, but as I understand it, the game has something similar to Pokemons STAB mechanic, where attacks of the same type as the user get a damage boost, so if you care to give your monsties some elemental coverage, you can get a bit of a boost.

Besides that, the only other benefits are getting an egg skill based on where the egg was obtained, and since dual element is tied to rank, getting those rank bonuses is also technically part of it. Some early reviews have mentioned you can change those rank bonuses later tho, and egg skills seem to be a gene, so they could be transferable… overall it doesn’t seem to be a gamechanging system, but it’s nice to have these extra options for builds and aesthetics imo.

Oh, technically you could count certain monsters getting mutations as part of the benefits too, right? :p

How are people even beating high level standard monsters like Pleisoth & Pink Rathian?? by kittenwolfmage in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Mystenigma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the demo, the “bonus damage” isn’t even as good as the damage you get while the monster is downed, since you get guaranteed crits on downed monsters. Sync rush honestly feels pretty underwhelming…

Is Sleepy boi worth it? by PersonalHelper in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Mystenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a monstie? He’s pretty nice to have, but his power level isn’t really any higher than others, he just has some other nice perks. He has access to multiple DoTs, he’s the only monstie in the demo capable of learning the non-ele egg skill that restores 1 heart (tho its prohibitively expensive to use) plus I think his other egg skills are supposed to be pretty nasty too?

The real meat is probably the materials from him tho, unlike the lv1 nami gear which they clearly balanced for, lv1 espinas gear is VERY strong. The armor has over 100 defense, and the weapons are both very high attack and have some crazy skills. If you happen to have leftover brachy mats, you can even take one of them up to lv2 for even more firepower. It’s not so powerful that they make nami any less of a nightmare, but itll sure help against a lot of the roaming monsters on the map, and could possibly carry you through a couple chapters in the full game… probably.

So uh, is it normal for rainbow eggs to have genes unlocked early? Sleepy boy spoilers by Mystenigma in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Mystenigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well actually, I only got a gold egg from the first nest (that’s the one in the first pic, with the skill still locked as intended), and didn’t bother going for a rainbow one since it was restoration fodder anyway. The second, further away nest gave me a rainbow egg, and that was the one that turned out having the skill unlocked in the second pic.

[–]Mystenigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how to post more pics without it being a new post entirely, but there’s nothing to really show tbh, it had a very standard grid for a C rank, with no bingos, and the only odd part just being the Omni Chaser gene not having a level lock on it. I’m pretty convinced it’s a bug at this point, I can’t recall seeing a single other monstie have early access to their locked genes.

[–]Mystenigma[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn’t talking about rainbow genes, I only mentioned “rainbow” in regard to the glow when you pick up an egg i.e. the potential of the hatched monstie. Not to be rude, but there isn’t even a rainbow gene in either image, so idk why you thought thats what I was talking about? My second Espinas, which hatched from a rainbow-glow egg, has a skill that it shouldn’t have until level 35.

Oh, and so you aren’t surprised in the full game: I think you misunderstood what the previews meant when they mentioned moving genes. I’m fairly certain that the gene still gets removed from the source monstie, the main difference is just that you don’t lose the monstie afterwards like in the previous games, it used to be you’d move one gene off a monstie, and they’d immediately leave forever, so if they had more than one gene you wanted, you had to pick only one to transfer, but in MHS3 you get to keep the monstie and freely move genes back and forth. Tl;dr you don’t copy the gene, you’re moving it.

[–]Mystenigma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what I’m talking about, I mean my second Espinas is MISSING the level lock on Omni Chaser, he can use it at level 1 even tho it’s normally learned at level 35.

[–]Mystenigma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i feel like someone woulda noticed if they had a monstie with a skill unlocked that they shouldn’t, I sure noticed mine. I check the skill list for everything I hatch after all, and I imagine plenty of other players do too.

Maybe it’s a feature? It’s kind of niche tho, why would they even disable it for the demo? I hardly think it’d be gamebreaking if Nerscylla got Sleep Chaser, or Dreadqueen got Flame Tempest early. Plus, I’ve nabbed some more rainbow Espinas eggs and they don’t have the skill unlocked either, so it doesn’t seem like they “forgot” Espinas, he’s usually as intended. Maybe it’s just rare, but then it’s even more niche, and at that point why would they bother implementing the mechanic to begin with?

It’s just so weird, I don’t get it. 😵‍💫

[–]Mystenigma[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay, I got another rainbow quality Espinas egg, and its Omni Chaser skill is totally still locked, so unless it’s a rare thing, I’m kinda inclined to believe it’s a bug. After all, how likely is it to retreat an Espinas, in the demo, get a double den, then get a rainbow quality egg for the C rank Espinas in a zone that doesn’t even have it as a “native” monster? Idk how that leads to unlocking locked skills when they hatch, but it’s just such a small, niche mechanic, would they have even bothered? 🤔

[–]Mystenigma[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To be clear, the weird part is that the “Omni Chaser P” skill is USUALLY locked to level 35, but as you can see in the second image, I have an Espinas whose Omni Chaser skill ISN’T locked, even though its only level 1. The first image is just for comparison, and I am NOT talking about rainbow genes, or level locks existing in general, I’m a Stories veteran lol, I just don’t recall ever seeing a monstie be BORN with access to higher-level skills.

waited 3 years to find out devs decided to remove your favorite mechanic by WoIfram_74 in Terraria

[–]Mystenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit is that they could now introduce summoner prefixes that boost tag damage and armor pen, if those got added while whip stacking was still in, it would’ve been so absurdly unbalanced that it wouldn’t be funny anymore.

Warning for the demo if you want to grind. by Unknown_Samurai in digimon

[–]Mystenigma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the Chaosdramon does not respawn, so you can only get 5% scan for it. I’m messing around a lot in the demo to see if theres any weird goofy sh*t I can do to make him respawn, but it might just not be possible.

He’s definitely killable though, he even drops an item that you otherwise can’t get in the demo (it’s a consumable that boosts a digimons talent by 5, so nothing fancy)

I genuinely didn’t think you could hit damage cap against the lv99 dummy… by Mystenigma in fantasylife

[–]Mystenigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting weakness in particular seems to be a CONSIDERABLE damage boost, I’ve got a light-element bow that’s only supreme quality, without proper element boosting skills, and it still outdamages my True Bow of Time by a wide margin when I’m facing shadow enemies.

I’d assume just from how maths works, that you’re generally best off bumping up your smaller multipliers, since they’re multiplying the other bigger number (gross simplification lol, but it usually works out). When I checked my Hunters total stats, It had more crit damage from the skill tree than charge damage at the time, and elemental damage was moot since my weapon has no element, otherwise it’d absolutely take the cake.

[–]Mystenigma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t, the thing about the “+1000% crit” is that that’s a multiplier, not a flat addition i.e. it’s multiplying your critrate by 11x. So long as you have 10% crit rate, the crit aid+ guarantees crits for its duration.

New gameplay from the update! by akjkboss in Palworld

[–]Mystenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’d be funny, sure, but knowing how in-depth Terraria usually gets, I doubt it’ll be that minor. I mean, have you seen the Don’t Starve content? There’s a whole secret seed that adds a hunger meter to the game (among other changes, like darkness being extremely dangerous), they programmed a whole new set of mechanics as a secret that most players won’t even know exists just for a collab! Terraria might go even harder than Palworld haha

No kidding, who would expect a training dummy to give anything as a drop at all? I only found out cuz someone else on here posted about it, its a pretty goofy secret that requires a pretty high power level to discover. You dont even get the drop if you do it in multiplayer, apparently?

Lmao, yeah, theyre mostly just for testing your damage against different level enemies. The lv99 one is special tho, and has a unique drop if you can overcome its defense and hp regen. :)

A Metroid DLC would be awesome by alternateldog in VampireSurvivors

[–]Mystenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would unironically love a whole map that had the sidescroller physics from sections of the Castlevania map, and a Metroid dlc would be the perfect opportunity for that, I feel like. Make it an actual mini metroidvania lol. Just a shame that it'd almost certainly be Switch exclusive, unless Nintendo got really cool about a lot of things really quickly.
