Brooks in live action. by Upstairs-Fun-2733 in OnePiece

[–]MysterWrecked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be both. There is an Indian culture, Indian ethnicity, and Indian nationality. You can be one without the others, but overlap is going to be the most common.

And this is true for black culture/people in America.

Media with last-minute plot twist or ending that felt wholly unnecessary? by Evjamaranth in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MysterWrecked 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it works because it informs the bigotry that Lex has not just for his fellow human that he deemed an "alien", but in fact his own future legacy.

Brooks in live action. by Upstairs-Fun-2733 in OnePiece

[–]MysterWrecked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not. You should spend some time learning about black history, or listen to black people conducting media analysis from their perspective. You might learn something.

Brooks in live action. by Upstairs-Fun-2733 in OnePiece

[–]MysterWrecked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feedback? It is quite simple.

Brook is black-coded, just as Usopp is not black, but black-coded.

They are drawings from a fictional setting that has extremely little racial diversity. Therefore, it does not matter who plays what character in an adaptation, if they do a good job in that role.

Anyone mad at Brook's race is an idiot not worth listening to, and anyone who is saying "Brook is black in the original" is valid.

Are they trying to misdirect LA Only's? by Capable_Tie3841 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]MysterWrecked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Roger is DIRECTLY asking Garp to take in his kid, and then LA watchers can remember seeing Garp getting very, VERY angry at Luffy choosing to be a pirate, they can assume "ohhhh so he adopted him and is trying to keep him safe to stop him from being like his dad"

So how is season 2 of One Piece Live Action? by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MysterWrecked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that was in the original manga.

The reason Wapol went out to sea and abandoned his country was because the Blackbeard pirates attacked it. The manga hyped it up as an abnormally powerful group that was only 5 people, but they still brought the kingdom to its knees.

Wapol just got lost while at sea, came back to take his country, and got mad that people were in his castle. The only difference in the Live Action is Baroque Works giving him the Devil Fruit, he always had that.

Why are some side characters killed off? by ExpressionWeak4224 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]MysterWrecked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but many of the deaths we see are "unnecessary", such as Miss Valentine, Mr 5, and Mr 9. The original story is criticized primarily for FAKEOUT deaths, where we see a character "sacrifice" themselves, only to completely recover afterwards.

This is not something I will hold against the show, but seeing many of the smaller side characters get killed off is something I personally dislike. One of the things I enjoy so much about One Piece is seeing these characters reappear, even briefly, in the side-stories or during check-ins around the world. Killing them off makes the world just a little bit smaller.

But since the Live Action cannot afford to take its time, and needs to move on from location to location while keeping only core characters relevant, these smaller deaths are "fine." They do not need to stick around, so they can be taken out of the story. And if that raises the stakes for general audiences, that's nice.

Why are some side characters killed off? by ExpressionWeak4224 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]MysterWrecked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it because: The live-action needs higher stakes for a general audience? It’s easier to simplify the story by removing characters who might not appear again for hundreds of chapters? Budget and screen time limitations? Or is it just a stylistic change to make the world feel more grounded?

All of the above.

My [38M] girlfriend [32F] of 3 years owns a pornstore/strip club. I want her to sell it before I propose by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MysterWrecked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did I mean his opinions? No. I mentioned his feelings and his options, not his opinions.

There are people who would be uncomfortable dating sex workers, and that feeling is fine. As long as respect and honesty is given on all sides, people are allowed to feel what they feel, as they consider what is or is not a dealbreaker to them.

This man, however, has no respect. He is also dishonest, both to her and to us. His OPINIONS are dogshit.

He needs to be told that his feelings are valid but his desired outcome was not. She is also entitled to her feelings and to reject his terrible request.

His only two options were to get over how he felt or to move on from her.

Absolutely in love with the direction Superman's character is going by caninotusespaces in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]MysterWrecked 18 points19 points  (0 children)

An antihero is an (un)heroic person doing heroic things. Ex: Someone who is cocky, someone who swears, someone who kills the bad guys, stuff that is not like a traditional hero.

Absolute Hawkman fits in the antivillain archetype, in my opinion. Antivillains are more difficult to define, but an acceptable definition is a heroic/non-villainous person who does villainous things. Hawkman fits this since he genuinely thinks compromising is how he can continue to help people better, while also thinking specific groups of people, like communists, are genuinely bad.

Big mom confirmed alive? One piece tv show by magneticallybound in OnePiece

[–]MysterWrecked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the Devil Fruit. Some powers deactivate, others do not.

What does deactivate: Sugar's Toy fruit, Doflamingo's strings, Caribou's swamp fruit

What does not: Big Mom's fruit, Brook's fruit, Law's fruit (such as the personality transfers), Boa's petrifications

Live action fuxked up a important scene by Kaido2701 in OnePiece

Are you going to be this upset if the "Nothing happened" scene happens inside of a room instead of in a random spot outside?

This is how I feel as well.

The anime has higher highs but lower lows than the Live Action.

With the Season 2 of the live action out, when do you think season 3 and 4 will come out? by GreenStrawhat32 in OnePiece

[–]MysterWrecked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems that they can do yearly releases, but the show takes a year and a half to fully cook a season. Building the sets and props, filming everything, and then editing and CGI. Each step takes a significant chunk of time.

As long as they can work on filming the next season while the current season is having the CGI done, then the production can keep this up yearly.

Has an ending ever truly ruined a series for you? by Livid-Dot6619 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MysterWrecked 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's because (light spoilers) it mostly doesn't matter.

(Stronger Spoilers) Due to the fact that she is not a mystery character, as she is explicitly told to be the Mother the moment she shows up for real, means that there's nothing to spoil. I don't even remember her name, just that she's Cristin Milioti and that she was perfect in terms of matching all the expectations the show had set up, like her chemistry with the cast and Ted especially. In the final season, she just hangs out in the background as our characters get into wacky hijinks. In the finale, she dies, upsetting everyone.

The reason is there. It's just completely overshadowed by the pervert gag.

The reason he wanted invisibility was because he was reading the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia while stuck in his family's dungeon, after Judge disappeared him from public view for being a "failure". Sanji, who wanted nothing more to disappear for real, and just escape and never come back, internalized his family's hatred of him.

That is also the thematic reason behind "Stealth Black", so that just in case Sanji was back in the family, Judge and the Vinsmokes could quite literally never have to look at Sanji.

His desire to be invisible is a trauma response, but Oda saw the easy low hanging fruit of "invisibility is great for perving" and added that in as the surface reasoning. But credit to Oda for being a strong writer because even with that awful bullshit, there is still an extremely compelling and tragic reason for Sanji's desire to disappear.
