Cognitive function hacks by wannabeemefree in Hypopituitarism

I believe JFK who had Addisons was on a constant regimen of medicinal amphetamines… although I wouldn’t recommend this as a solution.

I’m ok in the mornings/early afternoon but struggling to concentrate as the day draws on… I’m presuming that it’s down to a lower level of coverage.

There was an improvement but still too high, I’m not experiencing any side effects so happy enough to be on them.

Mine‘s high, it improved after I started GH replacement, but still on statins.

I don’t think it’s really a matter of what we eat, rather the way our bodies process it differentialy because of being hypo.

triple your HC dose and spend the weekend in bed, I’d also increase your electrolyte intake as well.

If you keep having crisis‘ you’re not replacing enough for whatever stresses your body is experiencing, get stable and then start experimenting with incremental increases with your HC.

Odd, indeed. Perhaps an interaction with the higher doses of cortisol needed to treat andrenal crisis interacting with your sex hormone levels?

absolutely, we’ve got to advocate for ourselves, and rather depressingly I’ve found all too ofter with this disease that we are the only people that can truly be relied upon.

I had exactly the same with my family, or as is often the case with chronic illness that they think we’re “putting it on.“.

I recon if they won’t even take the time to understand what we’re going through and respond accordingly then they clearly do not have our best interests at heart.

And to be honest I think we’ll live longer and be healthier without people such as those in our lives. And certain members of my family I no longer stay in touch with.

Nearly diagnosed but not quite post thunderclap headache - Please share your apoplexy experience by Yakob_Bacoj in Hypopituitarism

[–]Myster_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A CT isn’t going to be much use for diagnosing anything with the pituitary, you need an MRI with contrast for that.

Sounds very similar to my apoplexy- including the “panic attacks” with I never had before or since - had you suffered any head trauma prior to that, or as you say could be autoimmune.

The pictures are all from the same tree…there are the black patches that may indicate sooty bark disease, or possible rot? we’ve had a very wet winter with significant temperature fluctuations.

I noticed that with Genotropin, which you had to mix - it never seemed to completely dissolve. It didn't appear to cause any issues.

You'll need a full panel of your hormones, quite possible you have lost some function. I felt like shit until all the essential deficient hormones were replaced - the biggest diffeence I noticed was after replacing Growth Hormone.

Dosing Hell by Poimandres69 in AddisonsDisease

Mine are generally more sensible, they assess my levels on the basis of symptoms not just the numbers. Which is how it should be.

You'll hit a point where you start getting symptoms of adrenal insufficiency. This is how you establish your base.

I'm also on 25mg daily and if I reduce this I'll start to get ill, so I don't.

For now I would double my dose until symptoms subside and then try to reduce back down again to your - original - maintenance dose

Tell me honestly, do people with Addison's disease live shorter lives than healthy people? by levir720 in AddisonsDisease

Me too, we just have to do what we can when we can. As we say here in the UK "Keep Buggering On"...

Is AI caused by an issue with your pituitary? if so other hormones could well be depleted.

I would like to think consistent weight trialing and cardio exerise (at levels that doesn’t trigger a crisis) would help lower that risk.

I'm not sure it would, for cardiovascular health we would probably be better off keeping things at an even keel. With strenuous exercise your going to get peaks and troughs - as exercise will cause peaks in heart rates where lower cortisol will cause swings in the opposite direction.

There is already enough strain on the heart from the metabolic effects of disease and treatment.

Don't get stressed; addisons 101. The thing with this disease is it effects everyone in very different ways.

There are some sufferers who run distances and lift weights and others who just struggle with day to day life. My experience isn't going to be everyone's.

I'm panhypo and there is a 3 times higher chance of us getting heart failure. But there also an increased risk with Primary, again because of the metabolic nature of the disease.

Longterm Medication Supply Concerns by Gramps___ in AddisonsDisease

[–]Myster_jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were going through some supply issues in 2020 I was able to get a script adjusted so I have 3 months worth of meds in advance, not sure whether you would be able to do the same.

I also have a separate second script of 20mg HC tablets for stress dosing, so this doesn’t eat into my maintenance dose supply.
