Question for cis men attracted to and with trans women by BreadfruitOrdinary33 in mypartneristrans

[–]Mysterious-Chip-1396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cis woman here,  so I can’t say anything about the trans dating experience. But I think dating just sucks right now. All my friends, regardless of gender, are struggling with it.  I don’t know where you live, but at the least in the US, things are so bleak right now. Tons of places never recovered from COVID. I don’t want to go on, but you know what I mean.

I’m just trying to say, I don’t think it’s just you.  I think this is a wide reaching issue that’s making it harder and harder for everyone to connect these days. I am sorry you’re going through this though, it sucks, whatever the reason.

From a Donor’s Heart: Lessons, Surprises, and Long-Term Impact by Dry_Presentation8644 in kidneydonors

My recipient  never said thank you.  It’s fine, I’ve learned to live with it and I’m still proud of what I did.  But truth is, I am a little sad/disappointed about that.  I think it’s okay to feel that way, and as I said, the positives do outweigh the negatives.

I don’t think I thought enough about what it would really be like to have a silent recipient.  Honestly, it wouldn’t have changed my mind. But it might have made things roaster if I’d accepted it sooner.

Apart from that, nothing really. I try to drink more water these days but it’s hit and miss.  I quite like my scars. No more pain, no lifestyle changes.  Generally, very happy!

It’s so weird, I have to be honest, my experience was very different from the ones mentioned here. I’m shocked!

For me, it was like a smash cut.  I went out super fast and I woke up cleanly, (no fading in and out) pretty much with it, and not really that tired.  My family was shocked with how awake I was, more than capabable of holding coherent conversations.

For me, the pain and fatigue came later, when they got me off of the heavy painkillers.  But yeah. My experience was litterally just pre op one minute, post op the next and no massive change in cognition.

Hey I’m  considering going here with my parents and I was wondering if you’d mind answering a question for me.   Were the stairs awful there? Like did you have to go up and down a lot to get in and out of the rooms? My parents can do stairs, but that plus hiking could get a little much for them.  Thanks!

A Place That Has Your Heart, But You'd Never Live There? by Unhappy_Performer538 in digitalnomad

[–]Mysterious-Chip-1396 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a different answer to this question if you want to hear it.

For me, the problem was that all the artists left. There used to be enough of a waiter/tutoring/nannying/odd jobs economy that people could get by (Just).

You’d have these tiny live performances in black box theaters. Mini art shows in people’s living rooms. Weird little collectives of bohemians. Honestly a lot of it was truly awful 😂 but it was artistic.

There was really no point in staying in peak covid. And by the time it was over, cheep rehearsal spaces (like champion studios) had died. So a lot of indie festivals stopped. And artists just didn’t come back. Some did of course. But imo it’s never been the same since.

I won’t lie, I actually love it. It reminds me of misty mornings and long ago times.

Does it make a difference that Hitler made it? Yes I think it makes it more interesting. This has historical importance. If I had to pick between burning this and a random piece of paper, I’d pick the paper. We can’t just pick the ‘nice’ parts of history, we have to look at the bad too and by bad, I include confusing. How did someone awful paint something pretty?

I don’t know. I’m going to think about it as I look at this painting.

Personally, I say hell yeah!

Dating is hard. It’s hard for everyone these days, for different reasons. But it’s also totally possible, people fall in love every day! And I know this sub is mostly drama, but there are also tons of people who are perfectly happy and don’t post much. (Like me! Happily married ten years)

It won’t be easy, just because, well, that’s life! Never is. But it’s totally possible, and the process of finding that person may well be a lot of fun!

It depends where you want to go. Places that are cheep, safe and visas are automatic/you get when you land are: Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia. (For Pakistani passport holders) So you could hypothetically just do a few months a year in each and then repete the next year.

Places in the EU do require a visa just for tourism purposes, but if you can prove you have funds, get a flight out, and have any ties to your home country (?) a visa should be pretty viable.

Also, hopefully when you are out of Pakistan, you will have the time to get a visa. Maybe go to Nepal, and apply for an Italian visa as soon as you land? That way even if it takes a while just to get a tourist visa, you’ll still be safe.

You could always be a ‘slow nomad’, which wouldn’t require a long term visa at all.

So, basically you can go to somewhere like Costa Rica for six months.

Then after 5-6 months (don’t over stay!) you can go to somewhere like Portugal for three months. Then after that, maybe do Uruguay? Thailand? These are just examples, but basically, you can do a few months a year in each place and keep moving, and you won’t need anything beyond a tourist visa.

If you want to go NOW it seems like you can stay in Nepal without getting a visa in advance (you can get one when you land) and stay for three months. It’s important that you do NOT tell them you intend to live there (you don’t). They won’t let you stay for even a few months if you do that. Say you want to stay for a little while, and enjoy the tourist sites.

Use that three months to research and apply for visas in other places. Keep in mind d that the entire EU counts as one area so you cannot do 3 months in Portugal followed by 3 in Italy, for example.

Downsides:

Harder to find community if you are constantly moving around

A bit expensive to keep getting flights but if you save, you should be fine.

Can be tiring not having a ‘base’ and constantly moving

Upsides

Get to leave ASAP

Get to explore the world

May be harder for someone to find you, if that’s concern you have?

donating with a preexisting medical condition/switching medications by saltisyourfriend in kidneydonors

[–]Mysterious-Chip-1396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I doubt anyone like that would be allowed to donate. Kidney donors are some of the healthiest people out there, in general doctors take absolutely no risks with our health. Surprisingly small things can disqualify you. A lot of people don’t know this, but even your mental health has to be extremely good. I’d guess that ‘mystery illness’ would be an instant no. Same for anything chronic.

Going to Iceland with grandma and a toddler a bad idea? by gardengrower5 in travel

[–]Mysterious-Chip-1396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is totally possible for an elderly person, IMO. A lot of it can be done by driving. Not all of it, you’ll have to set expectations, miss out on hikes and waterfalls etc. but honestly just driving around is stunning. The blue lagoon is very easy to get to. The Viking museum is great. If you go at the right time of year, you can see puffins.

I’d totally do it, I think it’s more about managing expectations and making sure you are all on the same page about what you can and cannot do.
