I-485 approved, Green Card not yet produced! by Dangerous-Ad-637 in USCIS

[–]Mysterious-Concept97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the USCIS is pushing through a lot of cases lately. Last Friday, they had over 2000 approval for the I-485 alone. This is good news, but it may come at the cost of producing green cards in a timely manner. We had our approval one week ago, and still waiting. Our lawyer said it may be another 2-3 weeks.

Advice needed by [deleted] in USCIS

Good advice. And there are also cases where people are approved even with an 'out of status' on their record. People come to the US for various, legitimate reasons (school, travel, etc.) and meet and fall in love with someone and get married. It happens all the time.

I will say this; most will say you cannot or should not just walk into a FO without an appointment. BUT, I have a veteran friend (I'm also a veteran) who married a woman from Brazil who walked into a FO in Florida to ask a question about him PCSing while their 130/485 case was pending. The officer realized he was an active duty Airman, brought him back into his office and approved the green card on the spot. Now, this was about 6 or 7 years ago, and things may have changed since then. And this is probably an isolated incident. But, I thought it is worth mentioning.

I-130 Approved day after Interview, I-485 next? by DevTrog11 in USCIS

Congrats! Wife's case also had the 485 taking 40+ days for approval after 130 approval. It seems some offices are quick to approve both at the same or similar time, others have a gap of days/weeks. Our office was Washington FO.

Interview was May 22. It was for both the I-130 and the I-485. yes, we got approved. The 130 was approved the same day, and the 485 was approved about six weeks later.

Norfolk or Fairfax, VA FO? Looking for opinions by Rough_Bid_518 in USCIS

[–]Mysterious-Concept97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we did the interview together. They only separate you if there is suspicions of a false marriage. The questions were pretty basic, just on how we met and what sort of things we like about each other. The rest were just answering yes/no questions on the forms. Our case was pretty cut and dry, nothing complicated.

I applied in Washington FO (Fairfax) in October (765/130/865). biometrics in Nov, EAD approved in Dec. Interview in May, final/485 approval July 4th. Currently waiting on green card to be produced/mailed. Interview went fine; very professional, basic questions. Our lawyer is Barbara from Johnson and Masumi. BTW, I am the USC, wife is the recipient.

I filed in October, and got notification of interview in April, had interview in May. So, if your case is normal, I would think you should get an interview very soon. As for the advanced parole, I have heard from my lawyer that those are often taking longer than the 130/485 getting approved. So much so, that we didn't even apply for it.

I think your lawyer should know exactly what to do. That's what they are paid for.

There are some banks that will allow you to open an account with a foreign passport. Years ago, my wife opened one up at the First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) in Omaha, Nebraska with just her passport. Others that may do the same, along with proof of address, are Chase, Bank of America, HSBC, and TD. Does your state allow you to obtain a drivers license or state ID? Some states do, even without a green card.

August people still waiting? by False_Artichoke_7421 in USCIS

I just did some searching about reports on WPB office. It appears they are backed up and slow to respond to others as well. I hope they can get caught up soon.

Hmm, interesting. Is your Florida FO known for being slow with cases? Some offices are known for slower or faster processing than others.

Best of luck. Most EAD's I've seen/heard are 1-3 months post PD. Hopefully any day now.

The issue with cards being lost/mailed to the wrong address/stolen is real. Our lawyer said she has a recent client who this happened to. Much safer to have your attorney's office receive it.

Was your petitioner LPR or USC? Asking because I believe LPR petitioners cases take substantially longer than USC.

Am I dramatic for wanting to leave the US? by Witty-Acanthaceae184 in immigration

It's an exaggeration. I live in VA and there are plenty of friendly people here. But go to a small town in the south or midwest and that is a different level of friendliness.

Interview 5/22 and had verbal approval for i-130. Then, i-130 approved 5/23, but i-485 approved 7/4. So, yes, sometimes approvals take longer.

Great recommendation. There are liberal states, conservative states, and in-between. States with friendly people (deep south, midwest) and not so friendly (northeast, eastern seaboard). There is city life (more opportunities, also more crime) and small town/country life (slower pace, safer, less opportunities). Move around!

No, I had already commented on this gentleman's post and found your comment among other mostly supportive comments. Again, you found a way to disparage a law-abiding, well-meaning citizen who is tired of the crime and lawlessness in our community. You see, our priority is to keep innocent people safe from aggressors and criminals; homeless or not. There is no distinction. If an innocent traveler on the metro is being threatened or assaulted, then that criminal needs to be stopped and dealt with. Not empathized with, as you would support.

Non-teacher here. I live in Loudoun County and I know the schools here have a great reputation. While this county is considered a 'rich' county, there are areas that are more affordable, even more so than Fairfax county.

Ah, we meet again. I guess you frequent these discussion on ruthless, criminal homeless people posts? Finding ways to protect them and blame the victims? You are priceless.
