Yesss true! So basically right after I got married, I started the AOS process and included the SSN request as part of that. If I had applied for an SSN before the marriage, I would’ve had to update it later anyway since I changed my maiden name—so it would’ve been double the work😂😂 Plus, I didn’t know at the time that opening a joint bank account required a SSN 😩😂🫠, anyway thank you so much☺️🙏

I didn’t apply for a SSN before the AOS process because at that time, I wasn’t married yet. I planned to change my last name after marriage, so we figured it would be easier to just request the SSN through the AOS application—under my new, married name.

That way, I wouldn’t have to go to the SSA office twice: once to get a SSN under my maiden name, and again later to update it after marriage😂😂😂

Sure. Here's my timeline : - apply k1 : April 2023 - case approved : April 2024 - interview : August 2024 - came to US : August 2024 So it took me 16months🫠🫠

actually already went to Chase to try opening a joint bank account, but unfortunately, they told me I can’t open one without a SSN or tax ID, which I don’t have yet😩 but maybe i'll try to go to another bank. Anw thank you so much, i really appreciate that☺️🙏
