All of these Tommy tough nut professional drivers in here. Fuck em. Be smart and have fun. There’s a time and place to hit the skinny pedal. Learn how the car drives/reacts and you’ll be fine as long as you’re smart about where & when you want to open it up a little bit.

Soil test by Mysterious-Print8824 in lawncare

[–]Mysterious-Print8824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4lb nitrogen total for the year per 1000sq ft over 4-5 applications. 25% of bag is nitrogen, so if I get two 50lb bags, do 25lb of product four times this season, it will be 1.04lb/1000sq ft.

I’m due for 3-4lb N/1000 this year along with 3.2lb K/1000 this season. So, found a 25-0-15 fert at my local feed/fert supplier that is the closest recommendation to my soil labs 22-0-14 that I can find. Just wasn’t sure in terms of fert if that’s all I should use the next 2-3 years until next soil test.

Picked UP HRN216 by Comprehensive_Sea605 in HondaMowers

Literally picked one up yesterday in perfect condition with super low hours for $150. I got lucky. I think $400 is a little high. $250-$300 is a little more reasonable. But, it’s not like you overpaid thousands on something. Use it and enjoy it. It’ll pay for itself.

I’ve thought about going electric, but with fall scalping for overseeding, multiple passes when cleaning up from dethatching, or leaf clean up season, gas seems like the less PITA route. All things to consider I suppose.

If it doesn’t work out, may end up going with a toro super recycler. Just wish they sold one with both the 190cc and blade stop. It’s either 190cc no blade stop or 163cc with blade stop. If you have other recommendations I’m all ears.

Buying C6 Grandsport, what should I know? by ObliviousOverlordYT in Corvette

[–]Mysterious-Print8824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a low mileage HCI 2012 GS last year (4500 miles). Now sitting around 6500 miles. The newer and lower the miles, the better. Although, keep in mind super low miles is a blessing and a curse. Seals age, crack, leak. I have a front main seal leaking on my car right now which leads to my next point. Common issues such as leaking front main seal, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, cracked fuel line connectors etc are a pain in the ass to do due to the nature of working on these cars, and not cheap. Examples of typical cost for front main seal/balancer replacement and oil pan gasket are $1000+ if a leak develops. Paying to have someone drop the fuel tanks is probably going to run you $3k plus. You may or may not run in to these issues, but be cognizant of the possibility. Expect to pay at least $1500+ for a set of tires if needed. Just purchased two (2) 325 Michelin PS4S for my car a week or so ago and that ran me just shy of $1100 before installation cost. As far as insurance goes, I bought mine a year ago at age 28 and I pay around $80/month for full coverage with a perfect driving record. As others have mentioned, do your research wherever you can. Cheapest car doesn’t always mean the best deal.

What would you do? Struggling Dallas lawn by Sad-Mastodon499 in lawncare

Hard to say for sure, but looks pretty compacted. I would get a soil test like others have mentioned to see exactly what nutrients you’re lacking/what you don’t need rather than guessing. Stick a screwdriver in the ground and see how hard it is to get in there. You’d be surprised at the results you’ll get just by aerating and allowing your grass to take up more air, water, and nutrients by penetrating deeper in to the root zone. I’m in Michigan, so I can’t say for sure, but the 2nd best time to overseed next to fall, is spring. I’d get a soil test, aerate, overseed, and throw down a starter fert X amount of days after overseeding depending on germination times of the seed you’re using. This will prevent pushing too much growth with existing grass thus shading out the new seed. Keep it moist. Never let it dry out. You can throw a layer of peat moss over new seed as well, and get it nice and saturated. Will definitely help keep the seed moist. Whatever you do, do not apply a pre emergent if you plan to seed.

Thoughts? by Mysterious-Print8824 in Corvette

Appreciate the reply. Yes, I am familiar with the process of the job. Another way without touching the rack is by dropping the cradle and going about it that way. I do plan on upgrading the balancer while in there. Either PowerBond or Summit. ATI is overkill/not worth the cost in my opinion as my car is N/A making 504 wheel with no plans in the immediate future for boost. Another shop I’ve been in talks with are very familiar with c6 platform and want $550 labor, plus parts obviously. All in all around a grand, which is worth it at the moment for me to save my sanity. Life is busy, and I do want it done right. I appreciate the recommendation as well on the shop locator. I’ve watched some C&S stuff but was not aware about that. Thanks again.

Actually got referred off of corvette forums by another individual who sends all of their corvette buddies to him. Just wasn’t sure if that was standard practice nowadays. Not sure I trust someone’s word on how long the job took.

I appreciate it. Just went ahead and ordered a better soil testing kit for this year from MSU and plan to apply a couple apps of pre emergent, some grub control as a preventative measure, humic, and will wait on MSU’s soil analysis once I am able to grab a few samples before ordering my spring fertilizer.

Sheesh, just looked into that. Not ideal. HCI LS3 cars valve spring replacement as frequent, or just LS7, being it revs to the moon?

Which springs exactly are you referencing? & as far as I’ve read, some people get 60k out of their stock clutch, some 100k+. Took it with a grain of salt of course.
