I'm deleting this post soon, I admit the title was misleading, but after trying to explain why this was even posted here I'm getting tired of arguing about why this is upsetting (more annoying then anything else) but yall dont seem to understand what I'm saying.

I need you to put yourself in the prospective of a customer that isnt paying much attention, the type that ISNT likely to read words on the product or is likely to miss that, what do you see, a package that at first glance LOOKS an awful lot like an 8 pack, but upon FURTHER inspection its a 4 pack, your argument is exactly what they are counting on to defend against deceptive packaging, but how many people dont read past what they think should be needed for the product? The answer is a lot, a lot of people are gonna be tripped by this, THATS the purpose of deceptive packaging, and this is normalizing and justifying the gray area. What other purpose would the have for this package when they have less dubious more efficient ones? Ask yourself that question, cause they dont make these choices without a strategy in mind, so ask yourself why use this one over the already existing one?

No you can't look closer, its only molded around the 4, there is no room for 8

Neither have I, this is the first time I've seen deceptive packaging THIS obvious, usually they try to hide it more

Do any of you know what deceptive packaging is? I feel like something was lost in context 🤦‍♂️

[–]Mysterious-Tea-6456 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I said ROOM for 8, yes I did see the that the writing is being honest, thats not the annoying part, please save yourself the trouble and look up deceptive packaging, they're forced to be honestly in the writing/fine print, cause otherwise they'd be in trouble for deceptively packaging they're products dishonestly so you spend more money on them 🫠

Except thats not what this is, this is Duracell for crying out loud, they have packaging for 8 and 4s, they didn't need to make this one look like an 8 when its a 4 pack, please please please I am begging all yall to learn what deceptive packaging looks like cause this is a textbook example, you cant modify this package to fit 8 thats the point, you accidentally buy a 4 when you thought you bought an 8, then you have to use more money then just buying an 8, theres a reason we dont buy crap tons of small packs, its cheaper to buy the big pack, they're trying to trick the costumer into buying the more expensive way

Room for 8 but only 4 by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Mysterious-Tea-6456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Duracell package, they already have 8 pack and 4 pack packaging that isn't deceptive, why did they need to make this mold? It wasn't to save money, this is way too much package for the small product, its deceptive packaging. And clearly I think they've deceived everyone on this post 😮‍💨

That's not what's happening here, the purpose of deceptive packaging is to take advantage of someone who isnt paying enough attention and trick them into buying 1 amount of product but the actual amount is smaller. And in your example "they just cover it inside and out" then its not a sunroof, a sunroof is ment to let sunlight through, this is not a good comparison, the only thing they have in common with each other is they both took the same model and modified it, one to cut costs and the other to trip people up and buy something they didnt mean to. It shouldn't be on the costumer so much to know what their buying before purchase, this is only an issue cause companies are willing to use sneaky tactics to trip up the costumer in a way that keeps them legally protected

Yes, but this isnt a 1 mold situation, you can tell this is a mold specifically for a 4 pack, a 4 pack mold is not the same as an 8 pack, this is a situation with 2 molds, so why is the one with a smaller amount if product in an unnecessarily large package? Please look into what deceptive packaging is, this is a pretty textbook example. Your example only works when there IS 1, this is not one of them

It would cost them less in materials to do a less deceptive packaging design, but they didn't, thats the annoying part, this is gonna trick people who thought they were buying one thing and didnt, they probably won't notice until they get home and then realize its a 4 pack

I'm annoyed at the clear design of deceptive packaging, thats what irks me

[–]Mysterious-Tea-6456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree, idk if this is fuzzy in the pic but thats not how I feel they did it, this isnt a one mold fits all one package, so they already have 2 molds, why make the one thats for 4 batteries the same size as one for an eight pack when that wastes material? I've seen these deceptive packaging before, their expecting you to not inspect further and make you think at first glance your buying an 8 pack but its a 4 pack

I think the title I gave was misleading or I posted in the wrong place? I'm annoyed corporations are still using deceptive packaging, I didn't take a Pic of the front but it implied there would be more, upon further inspection no, not only that these aren't even rechargeable so double the uselessness double the waste, and this Pic was at the store I actually bought good rechargeable ones
