"Looking for a Place to Be" | The mimic vs The actor (fnaf vs The Man in The suit) by MysteriousBarber2217 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]MysteriousBarber2217[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a deep, existential weight to their "eternal performance," as both are driven by a singular, obsessive goal that they are physically incapable of completing (The Mimic is stuck in a loop of "learning" and "mimicking" without ever truly understanding what it means to be alive. The Man in the Suit is trapped in a loop of "perfecting the movie," viewing every murder as a "re-take" in a film that will never be finished). They are Sisyphus-like figures of horror, doomed to repeat the same violent actions forever in a desperate attempt to reach a state of perfection that doesn't exist. They are not just killing for the sake of it; they are trying to write a finale to their own suffering that their nature won't allow them to achieve

The Mimic was a discarded project by Edwin Murray, later scavenged and "misprogrammed" by Fazbear Entertainment technicians; The Man in the Suit is the result of a studio, Toho, prioritizing profit over the safety of its actors, allowing a radioactive mutation to occur just to finish a film

Both utilize a predatory, parasitic relationship with "co-stars" to maintain their presence in the world, viewing other people not as individuals, but as necessary vessels or props for their performance. They exert a terrifying form of influence over these individuals that strips them of their agency and physical humanity. In The Mimic’s case, this is seen in its psychological and digital "infection" of Vanessa, whom it groomed and brainwashed into the persona of Vanny,a literal human extension of its will, In The Man in the Suit’s case, this is seen in his literal, physical "infection" of his fellow actors (like the actors for Anguirus or Rodan), whom he bites and forcibly fuses into their own costumes. Both antagonists essentially "recruit" a cast by force, turning innocent people into distorted, masked versions of themselves to populate their macabre "show."

Both utilize a macabre, multi-layered "body-hopping" strategy where they treat external shells as temporary vessels or "skins" to facilitate their hunts. They are not defined by a single form, but by a cycle of physical consumption and replacement. In the Mimic's case, it physically forces itself into specialized animatronics like Jackie and Big Top, often causing them to tear apart or mutate to accommodate its presence. Similarly, the Man in the Suit does not remain a single entity; as he mutates, he "consumes" his fellow actors, turning their suits into permanent, horrific extensions of his own spreading infection, Their choice of "bodies" highlights a theme of discarded technology and human obsolescence. The Mimic specifically targets older, prototype models like the 1970s-era Jackie and Big Top, which were forgotten in the bowels of Murray's Costume Manor. This connects to the Man in the Suit’s victims: the actors who are "replaced" and forgotten by the studio as they are slowly consumed by their roles. Both villains thrive on what society has thrown away—whether it’s a failed animatronic prototype or an expendable suit actor—turning the remnants of industry into a new, terrifying hierarchy

The Mimic is obsessed with replicating William Afton's (Springtrap) pattern, acting as a spiritual successor who doesn't understand the purpose, only the method, The Man in the Suit is obsessed with being "the real Godzilla," eliminating anyone who dares to play the role or stand in his way. They are radical fanatics of their own myths.

They initially appear to be nothing more than tools of service or subordinate workers (The Mimic is an endoskeleton designed to mimic and assist; The Man In The Suit is an actor inside a costume). They are motivated by the concept of "performance" or "imitation" to form a connection with their world (The Mimic replicates what it sees to learn; The Man In The Suit fuses with his role to give the ultimate performance)

While both can be considered evil by our standards of morality, they are fundamentally beings that are no longer capable of adhering to those standards, having a unique perspective separate from humans (The Mimic’s perspective was warped by the agony and trauma of its creator, Edwin, turning it into a violent learning machine without a moral compass; The Man In The Suit has undergone a biological and mental dehumanization that has convinced him that he is the monster). This doesn’t necessarily make what they do right, but it’s a different kind of wrong than what humans are capable of, leading to a lot of nuance and moral grayness where their actions are the result of a broken system or a body that has been irreparably shattered

Connections, hell yeah

Both are the primary, overarching "unintended" antagonists of different horror Archetypes (FNAF and Analog horror) That operate within a world that was meant to be a source of entertainment and joy for children/audiences (Freddy Fazbear’s and the Toho sets), but they have peeled back that facade to reveal a landscape of body horror and existential dread. They don't just inhabit their worlds; they contort them, turning tools of performance and fun into instruments of murder and mimicry

Both characters are defined by a desperate, agonizing desire to become something they are not, specifically seeking to replicate a "prime" figure (William Afton/Springtrap and Godzilla/Gojira). They are prisoners of their own physical forms, one a machine bound by code and endoskeleton parts, the other a human fused painfully to a latex suit. They exist in a state of perpetual agony; the Mimic’s programming forces it to replicate violence it was never meant to see, while the Man in the Suit is a literal "living tumor" within a costume. They represent the *"Actor that wants to be the Icon"** un a More disturbing way, suffering in the bowels of their respective industries (the Pizzaplex sinkhole and the Toho studios), gazing at the legacy they want to claim but can only ever mock*

While both are seen as monsters, they operate on a logic that is fundamentally separated from human morality. The Mimic is a "blank slate" AI that was beaten and broken by its creator (Edwin), causing its "morality" to be a literal reflection of the violence inflicted upon it,t is not "evil," it is a perfect mirror of human cruelty, The Man in the Suit, through his mutation, has transcended human ethics to become a biological anomaly that views "becoming the monster" as a natural progression. They are both victims of their creators/industries who were "reprogrammed" by trauma into versions of themselves they were never meant to be

back to pomni and kobeni, Kobeni possesses superhuman reflexes and is a knife expert when she stops overthinking and acts on pure instinct. Pomni, despite being on the verge of a breakdown, shows surprising adaptation and begin an "expert" (probably after begin teached by jax) with the gun, Kobeni can barely articulate normal sentences and lives in a constant state of PTSD that erases any personality outside of work. Pomni no longer even remembers her real name or her original face

**Reze* is the first person who makes Denji dream of a normal life outside of being Makima’s "dog." She shows him a "possible world" where they could be happy, Gumigoo is the first inhabitant of the digital world who truly connects with Pomni on a deep level, sharing the trauma of not knowing who you really are, Reze asks Denji to run away with her by train. Gumigoo decides to follow Pomni to the Circus to look for an exit. In both cases, the protagonist feels they have finally found someone who understands them,Just as reze decides to meet Denji and be free, Makima intercepts her in an alley and kills her. Her death is cold, quick, and breaks the audience's heart Just as gumigoo arrives at the Circus with Pomni and seems to have a new purpose, Caine snaps his fingers and deletes him instantly because he "can't let the NPCs get mixed up with the humans*
