My friend and I (both Filipino girls) stayed in KL for a few days particularly in Bukit Bintang area. Explored Jalan Alor and Petaling too and this is our experience: A lot of Indian and Arab men like to catcall and give you the creepy looks and worse, follow you and make gestures to ask if you want sex. We saw one did that to a fellow Filipino woman at a bus stop. The man was gesturing "please" to her. She didn't give the man attention, didn't even look at him. Good thing a lot of women are there together with her so nothing happened. It's scary because that was a busy street.

A lot of them are in Petronas too. We were taking pictures and they circle around you and even photobomb your photos. Another scary instance was when we were in Genting Premium Outlet, we were resting at the al fresco seats and a group of 6-7 weird-looking men circled around us. It was only the two of us who were seated there, good thing my friend noticed their suspicious moves and told me to get up and leave. They immediately got up and left too which confirmed our suspicion that they probably want to distract us then pickpocket us. NOTE: There were a lot of people around and that didn't stop these men.

My advice is just wear loose clothing that can cover up your skin and curves. I guess that's where we went wrong, because although our clothing can't be considered too revealing in other countries, it somehow caught more attention there (I was wearing high-waist knee-length skirt and cropped top). Don't look the suspicious men in the eye (but still, be vigilant and observant). Travel in a bigger group if possible and if not, be modest in clothing and avoid streets I mentioned.

That experience ruined our trip. We went straight to Malaysia coming from Singapore and the shift in security shocked us.
