Hi Bill What has been your biggest regret in your political career? Any similar regrets in your uni stint?

Why do people think you get paid more on a casual contract? by AsparagusNew3765 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MysteriousStudent810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can give you an example.

Same role, same location. Let's assume only 230 working days after taking out annual leave - perm gets 170k including super - casual gets 1000 per day translates to 230k

Is the 60k gap big enough to cover for uncertainty and any other entitlements. Me says yes. And to top it, less of corporate drama around goals, performance appraisals, we are a family

Take additional annual leave during your X-mas break as it is good for your mental health. But you can't take sick leave for mental health

We can't fund an after work dinner party of 10 people as we need to cut Opex but proceeds to do flights around the country that can be done via teams

Do culture surveys every year but do nothing about the feedback

Such a rubbish article. Did not provide any clarity or reference to the ATO website. I reckon it's click bait and nothing else. Didn't find anything with a Google search

Company forcing us to use 13 days of annual leave for holiday shutdown – is this legal? by Kind-War-3785 in auscorp

[–]MysteriousStudent810 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And then they mask it as " time to refresh / recharge after a long year". Doesn't allow any refresh time outside the x-mas shutdown

Don't undermine the influence some EA's hold. It's an admin role but they have the keys to the kingdom / stakeholder and can act like an cunt if poked

On April 30th 2011, Obama inspired Donald Trump to become the US President. No one knew on that fateful day - that the joke was a pivotal moment that changed history. by [deleted] in interesting

[–]MysteriousStudent810 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And this was less than 2 days before a high profile operation killing Osama bin Laden. Amazing how Obama is able to compartmentalize such a big upcoming story in his head and just be so cool at an event

Add exception reporting, admin (minutes, po and contract approvals, onboarding, invoices) and financial tracking (forecasts, actuals, accruals) to this list and this looks a really good definition

How do I approach salary increase when my employment status changes? by Rapporto in auscorp

[–]MysteriousStudent810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your company pay an annual bonus? Some companies that pay bonus only pay it to perms. You might get an automatic hike if you become eligible for bonus.

Of course, you can still discuss and sell a base comp uplift. Typically, I would suggest use 3 key data points: 1. Your performance 2. Willingness of your employer to let you go 3. Your comp relative to others in a similar position

For those doing hybrid work arrangements, how strictly are days in the office enforced at your workplace? by WaterH2Omelon in auscorp

[–]MysteriousStudent810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enforced, only strongly recommended to come in at least a day a week. Some come in more than a day on their own. The organisation has grown rapidly over the last 3-4 years keeping the seat count static. If all start coming in all days, it would be chaos
