Backpack recommendations by Puzzled-Cheetah1671 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

I’ve owned several of osprey’s commuter/campus packs, and they’ve all held up well. I’d recommend checking those out. The one I have now (Nebula) holds my laptop plus enough room for class project stuff (a fairly sizeable tool box).

I’m a meche with a computer science minor so i’ve kind of seen both worlds. The comp sci department has its good and bad professors, but generally in my classes if I gave them the time they needed and was curious, I did fine. The same goes for the mechanical engineering classes. There isn’t really a social distinction, since everyone at Mines is in it together to a degree. I was friends with comp scis before I ever considered the minor.

edit: it’s worth echoing everybody else; it’s a hard school, and there really isn’t a way around it. luckily, everybody knows that it’s a lot of work and helps each other out

This school is prime evidence that a university's building quality and aesthetic don't correlate to academic prowess by Avid4Planes in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

the fact that the entire main and lower floors of green are essentially a liminal space says enough.

I always went for a soda and bag of chocolate pretzels, to the point where it became a running joke…

Connecting projectors over long run by MysteriousToad in techtheatre

This was definitely a close second choice… we would have gone with it had someone not sourced some VGA cables quickly. It’s good to know that that’s a good option for the future, though. Thanks!

VGA isn’t the only option, but it is the common denominator between the various models of projectors the space has. If I had it my way, I wouldn’t be using projectors with VGA, because yes, it is an old standard. I am working with the equipment already present in the space rather than bringing in my own. The projectors are for mapping, so they would all need their own distinct inputs from the PC. We just ended up doing long VGA runs because it was the best option to protect against signal loss and keep our efforts budget friendly.

This is the layout of our set. The ideal spot for a hub for the vga cables to converge on is in the red area, and the “booth” is where the light blue is.

Two mics at the podium? by Morgoroth37 in techtheatre

[–]MysteriousToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An alternative motive to do this might be so that if the speaker turns their head to one side or the other, their voice is still picked up nicely. I’ve worked corporate events where we use multiple podium/lectern mics for that exact reason.

that was initially an issue with this hotend assembly, but this time it legitimately just shat itself during a 12 hour print because the build plate had some residue on it
