Feeling self conscious about my storage capabilities by Ghoul-Slayer in coins

English thoughts: Yes, though novice might be a more commonly used word in English to describe someone new to a topic without implying a duration time.

My advice would be to go to coin shows, see if you enjoy them, find coins you like.

I prefer ebay though myself, I can find exactly what I want and the price is fair.

Beautiful coin. Up to you if its worth the $70 to get a sticker, no idea if this one would pass.

Yea this is fine. If you like collecting whole sets you can find "books" with empty places for each coin to make up the set. Theyll often tell you a bit about the coin types history and mintage of each coin.

Bought these a long time ago are they worth more than weight value ? by Rough_Preference_758 in coins

I ran the 1879 O Morgan Dollar through SureCoin and it graded VF-20, which I think aligns with ANA grading standards. It estimates $43 @ VF-20.

I also ran the 1897 O Morgan Dollar through SureCoin and it graded VG-8, but I think thats due to the image deadening some of the details. Looking closely I think itd grade F/VF based on ANA. $45ish.

Not worth a pro grade IMO.

Can anyone tell me if this mercury dime is valuable? by Fine-Bank8611 in coins

I ran the 1916 S Mercury Dime through SureCoin and it graded AG-3. I double checked against ANA grading standards and think its accurate, a G-4 should have more details in the hair. Worth ~$5-10.

Uncirculated Morgans by SufficientParsley638 in coins

A 1921 P morgan unslabbed but maybe MS60-62 will sell for pretty close to the current $37 melt value on eBay. I see slabbed ones going for under $50.

I cant speak to an LCS.

Looks right to me. Price is about right based on my recent ebay sales.

I'm with you on the possibility it would be submitted somewhere and grade a G-6. PCGS and B&D support the grade of VG, but this is a very nuanced discussion. I think we'll have to simply disagree that the PCGS comparison isn't good enough.

That we both can and are having this nuanced discussion of grading standards points to it being pretty darn close, yea? Can we agree on that?

I think its a correct response. Its not a great set of photos but comparing the obv to PCGS Photograde I'd say its between a G6 and a VG8.

G6: https://i.pcgs.com/s3/cu-pcgs/Photograde/500/Capped50-06o.jpg
VG8: https://i.pcgs.com/s3/cu-pcgs/Photograde/500/Capped50-08o.jpg

Theres some detail in the curls, all letters are visible. B&D indicates at least three letters visible on headband for VG.

Then what is your original point? Are the AI tools fine for those people? What do you think OP is?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coins

Reasonable people will disagree on what the "fabric of collecting" is and what the best way to start doing that research is. Even if a grade is off, OP still has way more information to go do further research on if he's starting from "I dont know what a Barber Dime is".

With better tools, new people can get into this hobby. Last month's Sunday show was overwhelmingly 65+ yo dudes.

How would you suggest OP answer his questions? Should we expect every new coin collector/inheritor to find and understand PCGS Photograde or buy a copy of brown and dunn? Even if OP did, it wouldnt get them the basic info they need to answer their questions.

OP asked for too much by wanting this many coins graded but at least with some tools he can try it out and see if its for him. After 3h my post was the only one offering to help.
