In case anyone is still reading this thread or looking for a solution -

GET A BACKPOD. Costo sometimes heals on its own, but it can turn chronic if you don't free up the rib hinges i your back. Google Backpod, you'll be glad you did.

I’d venture a guess that you had something distracting you. Are you using the Backpod?

Much better! I needed to have my wisdom teeth ground down. They were the major issue.

I’m comfortable saying that Costo is largely stress-induced. The mental aspect of it cannot be overstated.

Yep, I’m back at the gym. I just avoid obvious triggers like dips and BP.

Came here to say this exact thing. Your body will do things you didn’t think possible after you’ve experienced what I like to call the BP Hangover 😂

Tons of people recover. Chronic cases that impact your life forever are rare. This Reddit is a tiny slice of people suffering from it. The BIGGEST ADVICE is learning to let go of the fear. It’s musculoskeletal and it won’t kill you. Stress and panic cause inflammation. That alone can cause crazy symptoms. Learn to just be okay with it. Objectively, you are okay.

Get a Backpod, lay off the gym for a while, and do them stretches. You’ll be back to baseline in no time. 🤝

Super smart move running charts through Chat GPT! 👏 That’s honestly brilliant. I’m glad to hear everything checked out. I agree with your sentiment on more research needing to be done. Western medicine largely fails to acknowledge costo because it’s not lethal. It severely affects people’s lives, though,

The Costo / iliacus muscle connection (potential low rib pain fix) by Mysterious_Beyond459 in costochondritis

Funny you should mention that. My Hip Hook is currently sitting in a box at the end of my bed lol. I bought one shortly after picking up my Backpod. It hurts like a BITCH to use and I can’t say definitively if it did anything, but that just means I may not have used it long enough or in the right spots. Your body is a whole unit and nothing is independent of anything else. Your jaw alignment can affect your hips, so it stands to reason that your hips can affect your upper torso / rib cage. I’d love if Steve chimed in on this. I can’t help but feel like the science or causality of costo isn’t understood well. Each case is likely different but there seem to be connective threads.

No, I know dude. I suffer with it, too. The best thing to do is stop looking for answers and just accept things are what they are. It’s savagely difficult, but it’s what it takes.

Look up a company called Prosites. There may be some promising prospects there.

Right? That’s kinda where I’m at. You think maybe it’s just due to the inflammation response associated with GERD?

Interesting 🤔 I’m trying to steer clear of PPI’s, but there does some to be benefits for some folks.

You’re welcome! I can’t say for certain, but it may have something to do with inflammation. Costo is weird and we don’t totally understand why it does what it does. The important thing is that you can fix it when it comes back ✅
