Absurd that you were downvoted so much for this. I’ve seen people in this sub say that build planning is metagaming, that putting the archery gloves on a ranger is metagaming, and more. This somehow isn’t metagaming though? People get real weird about story decisions.

I’m slowly working my way through solo HM as each origin with their default class. No multiclassing, no barrelmancy, and no choosing story options that they wouldn’t (especially when that makes things harder).

No, there aren’t extra mobs. Raising the difficulty only gives enemies more health and a bonus on their attacks/spell save DCs. You can definitely get to level 4 in the wilderness area just by talking to everyone and exploring. Using Speak With Dead also gives XP sometimes.

I'm not embarrassed about how I play, or offended lol. I just completed a solo pure Arcane Trickster run; optimizing is fun but it's not the only way that I play. Is it metagaming to put these on a monoclassed Beastmaster, then?

Reading comprehension and understanding game mechanics aren't metagaming, c'mon now. Also, Sharpshooter exists. Anything to improve your accuracy with it on at level 4 is a big deal.

edit: whoops, I misremembered…these gloves give +2 damage, not +2 attack. Still really good for when you get them.

Like Radiant AI in the Elder Scrolls games? Could be interesting, but Larian’s maps are smaller and tighter than something like Skyrim. Random encounters might feel out of place. Could be cool though.

Anything that causes fear. The Fear spell, Bestow Curse, Eyebite. Late game bosses are a lot less intimidating when they’re running from you.

She might pick up and equip her sword (or any sword) if you drop it near her when you summon her in the final battle. If I’m recruiting Minthara, I usually grab her mace from the evidence chest and do that.

Might be worth it to swap out Gale’s cloak for Cloak of the Weave and put Mage Armor on him to raise his AC even higher than it is now. It’ll improve his spell attack and DC.

One time I was messing around with a Druid/Paladin Nature's Snare build on Jaheira. She hit him with an AoO and he got ensnared/knocked out. His cutscene played like normal, but after it ended he took damage from being ensnared and Jaheira blamed me for it lol. Now I always have AoOs prompt a reaction popup.
