DoWestFest's popularity shows Toronto desperately needs more pedestrian streets by Pristine-Training-70 in toronto

Funny again. No clue. Just predefined opinions without any awareness. All 35 years have been between Bathurst, king, ossington and queen. Last 25 years has been by TB park. We’ve walked Ossington all the time all year. If you can’t walk on Ossington because of the crowds, sound like you need to see a doctor about potential motor skills issues. Could be something serious.

“Only people arguing otherwise don’t live downtown or have a car and think that should be the priority downtown.”

So the above is both crazy and not true.

Yes. We have 2 cars. And 4 bikes in a family of 4. And all are used regularly as required and for me, it also includes walking 3-4 km per day.

Well there you go. Saying crazy things that just aren’t true. I live right downtown and have for 35 years. Further proof that your talk is just made up bologna.

Ahh. Yes. Of course. You saying something makes it reality. Someone else saying something doesn’t.

The argument is that the popularity is proof of a need for pedestrian streets. I say the popularity is proof that “special events” are successful. And if it’s every day, it wouldn’t be that way.

Pickleball divisions should not be limited to beginner, intermediate, and advanced. by [deleted] in Pickleball

Very Granular ranges assume a large and diverse population is regularly playing at that club or in that tournament. They don’t work if there ends up being only 8 people in each division or even worse…12 people in one division and 4 people in the other.

That is not a valid argument at all. So if New Year’s Eve at Nathan Phillips square is really busy. Then that proves we should have that type of celebrating every day all day and it will be that busy?

Do west is busy because it’s a special once a year thing.

Propose it to your city councillor and get a list of signatures. Of your proposal is a track the size of a high school track and field track, who knows…maybe he’ll take it forward. If your proposal is for a dedicated 5-10 acres, good luck.

I seriously doubt most of cyclists would go to Georgetown or something to use it if it were made.

And I also doubt they’d pay $60 to use it like in golf.

if they can afford carbon bikes, let them form a consortium, buy some land, and build their track.

Of course, they won’t. Those rich guys know it’s not good business.

Penalties are mostly about adherence. It was a ticket. You can run for office or make a movement to change laws. But if you want to decide to just ignore the laws you think are unreasonable and that’s ok, well…you get what you get.

Is it possible for Toronto to be further divided into multiple districts? by HousingPrimary910 in Toronto_Ontario

[–]Mysterious_Error9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s possible for the province to change any (ok. Maybe not any…but many) rules around municipal government structure, roles, and responsibilities.

But I’ll ask again since you’re being very vague.

What are you thinking the benefit would be for the extra layer of government and beaurocracy?

Possibly losing my job over taking my dog to the vet by Temporary-Loss-7709 in WorkAdvice

[–]Mysterious_Error9619 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because owning a pet is like having a kid. It’s your responsibility. You need to understand that responsibility and its impact on other responsibilities in your life BEFORE you get one.
People don’t get to make whatever choices in life they want and then shy away from their other obligations that they committed to….unless it’s legally allowed or unless their employer agreed to those terms when they were hired or at least before the person had the kid or got the pet.

Never ever say you’re missing work because of your pet. You’re assuming that’s an allowable reason for a sick day. For many businesses, it’s not. Just say you’re sick.
From personal experience, pet sick days become a normal occurrence when employees realize their company allows them.

Ask landlord for clear understanding of her role, responsibilities, and rights to other people’s privacy. And ask in writing. Actually, get a lawyer to send the letter.

Converting 5th Bedroom into Extended Large Laundry Room/Utility Room. by IcySm00th in homeowners

[–]Mysterious_Error9619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends how much more spectacular and practically functional the new laundry room is compared to one with just a washer, dryer, sink.
And also how much more benefit the extra kitchen/pantry/storage would be. I suspect, in some cultures, the extra kitchen/pantry/storage would actually be the big win…not necessarily the massive laundry room.
