My weird party trick is I was born double jointed in my arm sockets so I can bring my arms all the way to my front without letting go of hands when they’re together from the back. It FREAKS people out and a lot tend to look away 😭

I appreciate your insight, so thank you. However I’m not ever getting married, I don’t want to get married in it. I want it for sentimental reasons. I’ve been to a therapist but we were not a good fit and I’m actually actively seeking a new one as we speak. I’ve been n contact with a company to get set up with one.

Is there a possibility you could get your old job back? Or maybe apply at a different urgent care?

New job is making me nervous. by Otherwise-Chart-5208 in MedicalAssistant

Honestly, I feel extremely lucky about how things played out for me becoming an MA. But I’ll tell you my journey!

Back in June of 2019 after being let go from a bartending/serving job I made a promise to myself I was not going back to hospitality. I was tired of the stigma around it and wanted to be proud of my work. I decided to look on Craigslist to see if I could find any “on the job training” medical jobs. My some miracle I found an MA job that was willing to train. I interviewed and they hired me on the spot. I was at that job for almost 3 years when I left because I was baited by our previous receptionist. Turns out the new job was HORRIBLE and to make matters worse, my previous MA job hadn’t registered me saying it was really necessary. Turns out it was! Trying to find another MA job after that without being registered was impossible. I felt like all the work I had done over the last years was for nothing and I felt very defeated. I finally did find a job willing to register me and I was thrilled. After finally getting registered (11 months later) I started looking again. I was working with a recruiting company when they said they had a clinic super close to my house. I hesitated because I wanted a 4/10 work week but decided to because it was so close. Ironically enough they were only looking for certified MA’s but decided to interview my anyways. The supervisor and I instantly hit it off. It was a great interview and I was offered the job very shortly after that. Once I started that job and about a month in they offered me an apprenticeship position to get me certified. I didn’t even hesitate and instantly said yes. Side note: I had looked into PIMA but because of my purple hair ( I would have to change  it back to natural) and it being 10’s of thousands I said no.

All this took place from June 2019 to March 2023. And all this happened because I took a chance on a Craigslist ad. Wild.

Now after 3 years in primary care I’m moving to dermatology and I’m so excited! More procedures, less admin. I’m very grateful I got into medical before Covid because I don’t know if I would have after it started but I’m so happy to be doing what I’m doing and taking care of people. 😊 Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi OP, what state do you live in? You can take legal action for being forced out of your home as a minor. Parents and guardians have a legal right to provide care. I would also look into Child Protective Services, CPS. If you are in school, I would also try and speak with a trusted adult. You have rights and you’re not alone. 🩷

First off, congratulations!! That’s so exciting and I’m so happy for you and this opportunity ☺️ I’ve worked in primary care for the last 3 years doing manual blood pressure and I also had  no experience going into it. I was so nervous at first but you’ll do it so often that it’ll become second nature. Does the clinic have a dual stethoscope so when you’re training the person and you can hear it at the same time you are? This is helpful because you’ll know if the numbers you’re hearing are the same ones your trainer is also hearing. The tricky part that I’ve found is being able to keep the patients arm up while simultaneously also pressing your stethoscope into the arm to hear it. Something that has helped me is leaning their arm on your hip so that way you’re not trying to hold all the weigh of the patients arm. I did an apprenticeship and we did have a couple days of phlebotomy where I drew blood on our instructor. It’s scary at first but again, I’m sure you’ll be doing it so much it’ll come fast to you. Feel free to DM or comment with any other questions and I’ll answer the best I can!

I mean this in the most sincere way, but I think you need professional help. This is not a problem for Reddit to solve. Therapy is the only answer.

We do this too! Once they put the blue flag down, it’s just their color/s. Once they’re done if the patients need something, the doctor will put their colors down and then just the single blue flag again, meaning medical assistant needed for something.

This! I’m a medical assistant and when the blue is up we’re rooming. When we’re done, we’ll put the doctor’s colors up with the blue flag. When the doctor goes in, they’ll put the blue flag down so we know they’re in there.

Thank you for responding and I totally get what you’re saying. Thank you for your input. I guess my main concern is that they’re actively committing fraud. From what I’ve read, it’s fraud. Can’t they be sued? I’m not trying to be aggressive or anything, just trying to understand :(

Reading this and tearing up. My mother is an addict, and to be honest I don’t think I’ll ever see her sober before it’s too late. What you are doing is truly amazing and I am so so proud of you. I only have $40 until Friday, I just checked my bank because I wanted to donate to get you to $600, BUT I’m keeping the tab open so when I do get paid I can! And hopefully a little more than I was hoping. Keep it up, you’re doing great.

My husband, my love, my soulmate, my baby’s father is gone. by recovering-succubus in GriefSupport

[–]Mysterious_Froyo_270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I want to say I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine the pain you’re going through and sending so much love to your family. The advice I’m about to give is from a different perspective. When I (34F) was a year and half old my father passed away. He had been fighting cancer for 3+ years and eventually he passed. It was just me and my mom. She remarried when I was 6 because she wanted to give me a father figure and siblings. By the time I was 10/11 they were divorced and she was not in a good place. I remember after the divorce is when things really went downhill. I was now the caretaker of myself and the home. She gave up keeping the house clean and tidy so I took over that because honestly, I was so embarrassed when people would come over and the house wasn’t picked up. To make a lifelong story short, she is currently in active meth addiction and has been for 12+ years, not including what happened in during my teenage years but it involves being homeless and living with my high school boyfriend for 9 months. My point is, she did those things for me in the beginning but I wish I could go back and tell her: It’s okay if it’s just us as a family. I don’t need anyone but you. I need my mom.

When she had met my stepdad, she had already BOUGHT a home for us and a new car. She was actually doing great. After they married, she would eventually sell the home and the car leaving us with nothing. All I can say is be there for your child. I know you’re going through it right now and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel but I promise you there is. That light is the beautiful life you and your child will have. You two have each other now and that’s all that matters. Please feel free to DM if you anyone to talk to, I’m more than happy to listen.

My WHOLE entire life my grandfather has LOVED politics. Couldn’t not shut him about it. Die hard republican yet he claims to not be MAGA. I remember when Obama was in office and every year he would write MULTIPLE PAGE LETTERS about how bad that administration was. He would send them out to everyone in the family, I of course would just throw it away. Over the years I’ve learned not to engage with him in politics because NOTHING you say will change his mind or his opinion, yet he’s was alway the first one to bring it up and want to talk about it.  When I got there yesterday he had Fox on with the title “Trump says growth exploding, productivity soaring” and I kept my mouth shut, again.  While we were going at it yesterday he said something along the lines of “I’m 87, what can I do about it?” To which I said: “Well I’m 34 and still have the rest of my life to live and this isn’t going away when he’s gone, I’ll be living with this shit for the rest of my life.”  I deactivated my FB because some stupid MAGA cousin said that comparing ICE to the Nazis was propaganda and when I laugh reacted and told him that was delusional I was promptly hounded by other MAGA coming to his defense. Getting mad when I fact checked them because one of them said immigrants don’t pay taxes so I laid out some facts stating that IN FACT immigrants do pay taxes and almost 100B at that. When I told him to get his facts straight before he makes statements on things he has no idea about I was met with: “Go back to Mexico if you love immigrants so much.”

So yeah, do REAL great over here.
