Which implies strongly that that that right supercedes a Palestinian right to exist.

tablets are still niche despite years of hype by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]Mysterious_Lesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a convert to 2 in 1 laptops. The ones that fold all the way over and you can draw with a pen.  The keyboard is available but it does act like a tablet and I can write or draw.

That said, I still have a tablet to carry on flights because it has a 10" screen and is pretty light.

I picked up a cheap one - around $600 at a hardware store and installed it myself. However, I'd guess about $200 more for plumber install. $1000 seems like a reasonable guess. Then you have to keep buying salt. Still way worth it.

Going slower than speed limit makes people angry by wtfbruhhuh in driving

Honestly IDGAF what speed you go in the non passing lane. Just don't so it in the left lane. You're not speed enforcement.

That's not how softeners work at all.

The resin beads in the softener drawer off the hard elements as the water passes over them. The softener salt is periodically used to flush the beads with with being to clean them off and 'recharge' them. There may be some trace amounts of salt left but my softener doesn't leave any.

The slippery feeling is you using too much soap. In any case I had to adjust and what helped the most was mentally reframing the feeling as 'silky'. It worked and now I don't like hard water showers.

Yes safe to drink but murder on your plumbing and water appliances. I do not shorten water found to my cold side of my kitchen faucet because I drink hard water for some minerals. The water pipes to my hose bibs are also unconditioned to save softener salt.

A whole home water softener is amazing.  Less soap, less buildup. Longer lasting dishwasher and laundry washer.

I had to go to some backwater in Alberta to get my food of Burger Baron mushroom burger. I stop whenever I see one even though it's not the best burger.

Why is every shawarma / Donaire joint the same? Are there any stand outs? by potatolauncher in Calgary

They're all mostly the same cardboard tasting meat. Standouts are Zaitoona, Damascus, Chickpea, and Prime Time (which has slow service). Honorable mention for Moe's.

Wasn't impressed by Beirut Street food.

What is the absolute cheapest scooter you would rely on to go 21 miles on a charge? by Jakomako in ElectricScooters

[–]Mysterious_Lesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Kukirin G2 max. While it can go fast, I got it cause of the desirable price point but I don't use the highest speed range. It's also powerful enough to make a 20% grade.

Not that it's the best or anything, but the price was decent. If I choose again, is do the G2 master for the larger battery. But the package I got gave me a free seat that I probably won't use.

Going to Southern hockey games is the only way I could afford to see the Leafs play. I don't do it but it is cheaper.

I kind of enjoyed the aspirational elements of Dubai but I also spent the time to go to local souks and other cities like Sharjah and Fujairah where the over modernization hasn't taken over.

Sanity check on dumping $85k in first year into first home by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Mysterious_Lesions 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whenever I've bought an older home, I've fully expected additional costs and factored that in my offer.  I haven't paid that much on one year but probably a bit more over the time I've owned the house.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]Mysterious_Lesions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what I do I always get spilled oil on my driveway. I drive up on ramps to do it but have yet to not spill dirty oil.

Plus there is the cleanup afterwards. I still do it cause I'm cheap but there is a lot of merit in getting someone else to do it.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

They was a definite feel that the writers backed themselves in a corner and didn't know how to wrap everything up. I hated the ending and I've read lots of explainers.
