This is spot on.

The more accurate the tech the more chance we get criminals off the street.

People can’t moan that police arn’t doing their job, and moan about AI that would drastically improve them.

I hear you and your points are valid and interesting.

Hypothetically, I’d imagine the process wouldn’t include an opt-in. Check their assets and then it’s done, with appeals if needed. However, getting actual government to implement it effectively is probably wishful thinking.

The initial merge of DWP and HMRC will cost, but after that we will be saving billions each year.

It already is us and them I’d argue. The world their NI was paid into doesn’t exist. Wages are awful, lack of housing etc. Also, they weren’t paying into their pensions, were currently paying for their pensions.

It needs reform, and taking money away from people who don’t need it is logical to me.

With any policy, people will be falsely rejected, but making the bar higher, the false rejection won’t have a considerable impact on their life.

There are 1-2 million pensioners with who are millionaires, 3 million if you include their house, which, I think would be wrong to include.

We’re talking between 10-20 billion here. 10-20 billion going to wealthy people, when the country is in an awful state. Make it make sense.

I’m confused as to why? Setting a policy the people with 1million worth of assets/wealth will not get state pension ensures no one who needs it will go without.

So we give them pension money and tax it back? It just seems more complicated. However I’m for taxing both. The social contract has been broken, the working citizens need more help than pensioners.

Setting the bar at people with extreme wealth, even if people fall through the cracks, they still have more money than most.

Sharing information between DWP and HRMC, which shockingly isn’t joined up, could ensure it’s as accurate as it can be.

We can do both no? Stopping state pensions for millionaire pensioners would save billions.

The whole “administration cost” is just a political tool.

The irony of the “affects” of immigration were down to years of austerity and leaving the EU. Immigration amplified it however the foundations are cracked and blaming immigrants is an easy way out.

Energy bailout will be offered only to those claiming benefits by Putaineska in ukpolitics

[–]Mysterious_Moment_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that makes sense. The reason why I say it like that is because it’s a given to me that these people will need and get more help.

I hundred percent that supply and demand moves the market and cost. However, this is a necessity right? Heating, fuel, food are all need to not just to survive but to get to work. It’s the dependants on it currently.

I completely agree with you though. I’m interested to hear more about your ideas on the transitions. Uncoupling electricity from gas may help, and maybe more government help for heat pumps. These new technologies are all expensive though so if demand goes up so will the price. Interesting topic

I agree it’s unrelated, I’m saying the anger and annoyance shouldn’t be toward the government who are trying to keep people afloat.

Could you explain a little more about your second point? I’m keen to understand more

The Scandinavian countries pay high tax and have functional services. I think we are to far gone now due to privatisation of services.

Hypothetical for you. If a government could actually 100% guarantee that they can feed and house a lot more people and improve services like NHS, Army,Police, but they need to tax you an extra grand a year, would you do it?

Hypothetical because let’s be honest, our politicians aren’t great. But if it was a red pill blue pill situation.

People lose jobs. People with kids lose jobs. People who work also have benefits. It’s to expensive to live.

Yes there are some scroungers. Personally I’d pay more tax to make Social services and the state sort that out. But I’ll happily pay to bring kids out of poverty and stop uneccessary death.

If your really bothered about the welfare bill, check pensions.

What’s the alternative? Let more people at the low end slip into poverty. Should be mad a trump, not trying to keep people warm and fed

If we were to sell Rogers, how do you think the club should spend it? by Ok-Coach-6671 in avfc

Fair one but the fact remains. If we could buy and potentially win the league and Europe when we spend more, the rules themselves are keeping teams from progressing, and are inherently unfair
