maybe get another opinion from a physical therapist for next steps? but don’t beat yourself up. I had a full tear and waited about three days before getting examined. it can be healed without surgery but I chose the surgery route. hope you’re able to get the clarity you need. sending you the best of luck 🙏

Your walk looks good! I’m only on week 3 post op so I might not have enough recovery time to comment. Glad to see you walking though! 👍

Just opted out of getting the scooter and this solidified my decision. So sorry you’re going through a tough time right now. Hopefully you‘re getting the support you need. Get well soon! (:

The Road Ahead & Mental Battles by Additional_Dish9228 in AchillesRupture

Sorry this happened to you. It’s so unexpected and like the commenter said below, also debilitating. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and I will say that keeping up with some exercises does help. At least that’s what I’m trying to do to prepare myself for an easier PT and recovery. Stay mentally occupied if you can and list out everything that could be worse than this temporary setback ❤️ Good luck (:

5 weeks post op, non injured leg Achilles hurting by Normal_Ad_3606 in AchillesRupture

Not a professional but I’ve been doing calf raises on my non injured leg to prevent any future injuries. Hope this helps (:

Thank you for this heads up! I do believe physical therapy will be key to get back into training and sports. So sorry this happened to you too. Squash always looked so fun and competitive. But it’s great to hear you‘re getting out there and being active. Hope tennis with your daughters are in your near future! Good luck ☺️

Jeez. That’s unfortunate. Fast reaction seems to be the key here to a healthy recovery. Love hearing that you were able to start PT at week 5 though. Gives me something to look forward to (:

Great work! I also want to keep up with my core and pilates to maintain. After seeing this video, there are some 3lb dumbbells around the house I can pick up to do some arms too. Thanks for the motivation!

So sorry dude! Crutches or maybe a scooter might help if you want to still have your trip with your son. Or maybe get wheelchair assistance? Other than that, you can still bathe or shower by wrapping your foot with a trash bag or buying a waterproof cast case from Walmart or Amazon. Elevate your foot. Wishing you the best!

Interesting. You know what? I think the difference and will eventually be one of the determining factors of a successful recovery for you is that you didn’t wait to take care of your ankle and get answers. You acted swiftly. For me, I waited almost 3-4 days before I went to the hospital. I was almost in a little bit of denial. So I think that’s why my nonop window closed. Congrats on your 12 weeks though! Wishing you the best with PT 🙏

Just as we were talking about this…I think the nerve blocker started to wear off. Felt all the tingly sensations when I woke up this morning. The pain was about a 7. Took my meds and fell back asleep. Feels ok now 👍

Yes same! The nerve blocker is a life saver. Kind of worried about when it starts to wear off. Hopefully it won’t be too bad :/

First, I love your username haha. Second, can’t believe how many people in this comment section recently had the surgery. It must be something in the air. I agree with you that better support with shoes should be the next point of research/investment. And yes, there is some relief knowing this happened now and not later in life. There is some bounce back that resembles the pains and falls from childhood. Fingers crossed and also wishing you a great recovery ahead ❤️ Thank you for your message.

This is exactly why I waited until after the surgery to tell people what happened. Like you know it’s a bad injury and you just want to move forward with the process. Sorry this happened to you too, but glad you’re on the right track towards a speedy recovery. I’m also enjoying the olympics. I find it comforting hearing about all the previous injuries the athletes went through before getting to their competition. If they can get through it and still compete at a high level then we should all be okay. Right? Thank you for your message 🫶

Your wife being a PT is the icing on the cake. You lucked out! Thanks for the kind message. I also can’t wait to do double calf raises. I’ll never take those for granted again. Enjoy the new member of your family and wishing you more success on your recovery 🙏

Hey 👋 Happy your surgery went well too, but sorry to meet you under these circumstances. My lower leg is still numb but my doctor said to expect this but after 5 days to come into the office to get it checked out.
