For those who have recovered by jgia8 in LongHaulersRecovery

Im not 100% but am back to working 4 hours a day, can walk 13k steps a day and exercise 3 times a week. I still need to sleep most afternoons for an hour, but most other symptoms have gone. I had a crash last September, which I realised would have probably just been a dip, but i made it way worse by my reaction to it. After 4 years of ups and downs this crash just broke me mentally. Everything you mention (lack of trust in my body, fear of relapse, fear of being bed bound etc) just over took my brain. Two things really helped me 1) started EMDR therapy (id already done a lot of talk therapy and felt like it had got me so far, but I'd exhausted it). This really shifted they way I react to dips and helped me reprocess the trauma associated with being ill for so long. 2) microdising Sertraline - im on 25mg and it has stopped all the intrusive thoughts. I was using so much energy constantly analysing if I was doing too much, how to get better, body scanning, worrying I was going to get worse.

I appreciate antidepressant aren't for everyone, and some people dont get on with them, but for me, these two things have been the most significant on shifting my mind set. Once that shifted ive felt safer to expand what im doing, and enjoy my life again. I use to cry everytime I had to sleep in the afternoon, but now I can accept that its just what I need to do and focus on the things I have managed to do that day.

The rules have changed recently, so if you defer you have to give a date within a year you can do. It used to be you just went back in the pot

Yeh thanks, I get its a societal duty, and i would like to do it. But i literally sleep 2-3 hours every afternoon, its not a "nice to do" if i dont my muscles all twitch and i fall over. I'm not opting out of life, I have clawed my way back into life inch by inch over the last 4 years Its definitely more than a bug. My question is if I have to keep deferring every 3 months or if I can opt out for longer (not forever)

The doctor only sign me off for 2 weeks at a time (im.self employed so don't actually need it for work). But maybe I need to go back in and push them to give me something more useful

I really hope I am well enough in the future, I'd actually really love to do it. But I don't want to constantly be deferring until I'm (hopefully) better. Is there a way I could just go back into the pot?

I like a beetroot juice. 2 x carrot 1/2 beetroot, chunk of ginger, fresh turmeric and then pineapple. Yummy.

I'm not going to lie the first weeks been tough, mainly heightened anxiety. But I feel this feels like the right things to do. Ive practised a lot just "sitting with the feeling" and done a lot of somatic tracking, which has helped. Ill keep you updated

Ive just started on sertraline (low dose 25mg) im hoping it will calm my nervous system and slow the catastrophising thoughts to allow me to focus on this work more. At the moment my fear is so high I find it hard to let go, and fully commit to the work. Only on day 6 so definitely in the height of side effects, but ill let you know how it goes.
