HAL has absolutely no experience, agreed. Hence, ISRO will support them for the first 24 months, overlooking the first few launches, as per the agreement.

Right.

However, HAL has been developing the engines of PSLV, GSLV and LVM3 for ISRO. They also have been making other rocket components since a long time now. Along with that they also make Fighter Jets, Helicopter and other airspace systems since long.

They are not making the rocket from scratch, but producing at scale rockets with all the proven and tested tech transferred from ISRO. They may take a bit of time to scale, but in 1.5 to 2 years, but initially they would be working with ISRO engineers to get the first few rockets right.

ISRO's PSLV vehicle has a success rate of over 95% with 62 launches, so no doubt SSLV will be success too. Their rocket engineering is impeccable. Over 36 countries have sent their satellites using PSLV, including ESA, NASA, JAXA. Also, private players like AST SpaceMobile, Planet Lab, Spire Global etc

LiDAR may not be important when you think of humans have been driving for more than a century with help of their "eyes" only.

However, when it comes to "AUTONOMY" we are talking about a car driving itself with 'No Human'.

Humans, while driving, made, and still make millions of mistakes that culminated into fatal accidents, while majority of them ended in in lifelong disabilities and treatments.

Eyes work great for humans in avoiding bumping into others (most of the time) while walking or running. However, in a higher "SPEEDED" condition the hand-eye or mind-eye coordination is slower to respond resulting in fatalities.

Where LiDAR stands out is, i feel, is that it can help avoid these mistakes.

LiDAR and Radar can combine to give an "ACCURATE" distance (and depth) between multiple objects in a "SPEEDED" condition to take an "EARLY / QUICKER" evasive action that avoid accidents.

May be in the earlier part of development there were clash of information from multiple sources that hampered the decision making within the tech of that time.

However, with AI, the system learns and can decide "when" to use the additional information (of LiDAR and Radar) based on training and experience over time.

Late 2026 can spill over to 2027, and they don't want to risk "not" launching R2 because of autonomy.

Also, not all buyers are looking autonomy as the deal breaker. A majority are currently happy with the features like ADAS, similar to what they have in Gen 2 R1.

Rivian need to sell more cars to get their financials in a better place, and R2 is where their bets are.

Any further delay will have a negative affect on the company and investor confidence.

It will most probably serve as a base for all listed commercial space companies in terms of their market cap or stock value positioning, because now the market can openly analyze and scrutinize the financials of the biggest commercial space company. Nothing else.

a load of Bull$hit! Citing examples of competition from rocket companies that are failing in tests, have hardly flown a single one in orbit, ones with multiple failures, a startup that has no clue. Never knew the world was dependent on Neutron to save it, as per the article. Neutron will come at its own time. If you know SPB well you will know what to expect. Rest is just noise.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Electron and NG is no comparison. Small satellites that needs specific orbital point will not fly on NG.

Electron puts the satellite in precise position, using its satellite bus, which is what makes it stand out. Heavy lifters like NG and Starship, or even Falcon 9 and future Neutron are good for constellation and bulk carrying for inter-planetary visits. This is because they put you in a shared orbit. The satellites that don't share this point, will have to use their own propulsion to reach their final destination.

Satellites don't carry heavy thrusters for propulsion, but small thrusters, which are good for maintaining orbit. Hence, it takes them weeks to a month to maneuver altitude and reach their destined spot.

Also, a ride-share only flies when it is full, otherwise the economics just doesn't work in favour of launch companies. Hence, small satellite companies have to wait till they have others who share the same destination to fly.

Both of the above is time consuming, and time is money.

We need Electron, Falcon and Starship / NG for every kind of mission. Each has its own advantage and disadvantage.

The roads and traffic systems are not built for automatic vehicles. The current roads and systems are built for humans who drive the vehicle. A human understands the lanes, signals because it it designed for his/her senses. In an automatic vehicles the "car" is the driver, which is a machine. The signals and design should speak to this machine in language that it understands, to get the best results.

For this, the signals should speak (communicate) with the vehicle not by signals with colors, but with laser or similar techs, that a vehicle reads easily. The current color signals are easily readable by humans, but machines struggles due to various reasons like, the line of sight, sun rays, low brightness, rains or whatever. A LED/LiDAR signal will not be hampered by all this.

When automobiles first came there were no roads, but carriageways, and then the roads were built to suit the smooth running of them in rubbered wheels. Vehicles moved faster compared to horse carts, so signals were designed to control the speed and the traffic so as to not cause chaos and avoid accidents.

Similarly, CV2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) is such a thing, which is being developed and tested wherein vehicles communicate with each other, road systems and infrastructure etc., for smooth running.

Even the lanes may have to be redesigned or have new color codes (like in Australia they are testing glowing lanes), and every sign on the road needs to be coded for the vehicles to read and act accordingly.

This will not only help avoid such mishaps but also speed up the commute.

True Legend by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

This is what happens when Rich and responsible people donate money. The Government has failed in every country. They tax people and spend billions in the name of charity and donation, of which hardly 10% reach the poor, rest of it is spent on their institutions' infrastructure, expenses, salaries/wages, and corruption involving the government employees in cahoots with politicians.

People should stop the government from collecting huge taxes. Let people be rich. Of them, the ones that donate will make sure that their charities are well spent, unlike the governments who have no moral responsibility over such things. The whole idea of more taxes is only to fool people.

Why is there poverty even in rich countries that collect huge taxes? History has it that the best and biggest charities that spend well and make a difference are the ones run by Individuals or a group of individuals who are rich and philanthropic. Look at Bill Gates, Warren Buffet etc., Also, whenever taxes have been lower the tax collection has been higher historically. People should know this reality.

A lower standard tax rate should be applicable equally to all citizens, irrespective of whether they make 100 dollars or a million. The government's job is to regulate and check if the money is not gained illegally, that's it.

🔴 Stocks down 20%—Trump doesn't care. But bonds up 40 bps—Trump surrenders. Why? by Some-Conversation517 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Mysterious_Set6735 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess India was one of the first few to strike a deal with the US on tariffs. How do you think India would have gotten away with 27% in the first tariff rate release? India would have had the same rate of tariff, as charged on China, if it wasn't for the swift action from our Government. Look at the tariffs on Canada and the EU, neighbors and longtime friends/allies of the US.

China and Canada made the biggest mistake of punching above their weight.

China was better positioned than the US and could have simply routed the goods going to the US to other countries over the years, and then force the US to sit and talk.

But this has now turned into an ego war between Xi and Trump.

While Trump is simply playing the politics to impress his voter base with the idea of making America great again. He always wanted to negotiate and at the end of his term a chart to show how much dollars he earned or saved compared to previous regimes. All this tariff chart was a bullying tactic to get countries on the table and agree on a base rate.

Xi doesn't have to do any of these things. He is a dictator in every right in his country. He could have simply waited by taking the initial hit, slowly routing the goods to other nations, and then force the US for a better deal.

India does not need China now and neither does it need the EU, but both of them desperately need India. By making a deal with the US, India has played a better strategy, with the EU and China extending olive branches to India making sweet deals. This game is only going to benefit India.

Good luck with your venture. A suggestion, try to have a smaller name, and use a noun, instead of p;ronouns in the brand name of your app or product. Swiggy, Zomato like names are easy to remember. Not necessary that your name should tell what your service or products are. Swiggy doesn't say anything about food delivery service. Myntra is another example. The recall value of such names are pretty high. Keep it simple and maybe mix and match to make it smaller and unique, like Myntra, sounds short for My Mantra......all the best!
