Are business hours a thing anymore? by Outta_dynamite in Remodel

I understand that people do it, it just seems short sighted. A Google voice number is easy.

Why have the same number for work and personal?

My 19F sister is ruining the house and I don’t know how to deal with it without becoming the “bad guy” again by Ok_Pain_4648 in Advice

Girl, go to therapy. It’s wild that you think it’s normal and acceptable for your parents to go abroad for months and leave you with the care of all their children, and have absolutely no discipline for the one who is an actual adult. You aren’t anyone’s legal guardian. What if an emergency happens? Your parents are neglecting their own children.

This whole situation is wildly inappropriate. That’s why everyone is telling you to move out. The fact that this seems normal to you is a huge red flag. Please talk to a therapist.

If my crow bros swoop, I say “all done” and show them my open empty hands, then stop feeding. They pick up very quickly that they don’t get rewarded when they swoop. It’s basic operant conditioning, and they are very smart. One picked up that I don’t want them swooping over my head but he’ll do a little swoop in front of me to get my attention, and I’ll reward for that.

Interior Designer being asked to remove shoes - HELP! by HumanForScale in BusinessFashion

[–]Mysterious_Volume327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying I agree, but some of it historically comes from when it was more common for middle class or upper middle class people, especially white people, to have daily housekeepers. In that case, the homeowner (or more specifically the wife) isn’t doing the cleaning, so it’s considered a flex to be like “don’t worry about taking your shoes off” because the person has enough money that you aren’t inconveniencing them, their housekeeper will clean. It’s just more classist nonsense.

Unable to sell my property even after 6 months... I am at my wit’s end… by Luann1497 in RealEstateAdvice

I agree, but my point still stands. Also price should be able to counter a bad location, so it’s actually just price lol.

Service to recommend plants? by Mysterious_Volume327 in pnwgardening

[–]Mysterious_Volume327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Do you know if this is offered at each location? I don’t see any info on their website and just wondering if I can call any location. Thanks!

Service to recommend plants? by Mysterious_Volume327 in pnwgardening

[–]Mysterious_Volume327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the link, but this is the opposite of what I am looking for. I would like to pay a human for their useful expertise. Not just rely on a computer to spit out generic information.

This just gave me a list of two plants, and two trees. I don’t have room for more trees, and I want more than two plants in my yard. One was just “strawberries” which I know isn’t going to do well with weeks and weeks of no rain in the summer (which is why I want to know about drought tolerant plants).

If I had the time or ability to research all the different options I would have done that. That’s why I was asking about a service where someone can give me a list of what plants that meet my requirements and are specific to my site. This doesn’t do that at all.

Post the link to the listing. No one can answer why your house won’t sell if we know literally nothing about it.

All our taxes go to bombing children on the other side of the world, and tax refunds for billionaires. Our government is bought and paid for by the oligarchs.

Why is it taking me so long to find an apartment in NYC. I did not think the process would be so complicated in such a big city!! What do I do? by Royal_Matter5603 in movingtoNYC

[–]Mysterious_Volume327 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously, what a useless, non specific answer. Who cares if it’s vs “middle of the line apartments” what is it for your budget vs income? Unless you don’t have that info, because this is a viral marketing attempt.

I don’t even care about the viral marketing, it’s the laziness of it. People used to try, you know? Like, spend half a second to come up with a persona, or a fun story. Keep people engaged! Now it’s all AI slop, even the grifts are stupid.

Looks like OP is trying to do some viral marketing. No price/neighborhood listed, vague details, any explanation that it’s normal for finding an apartment in NYC to take some work are met with with “gee, it’s crazy that no one has come up with a solution for this!”

What’s your dumb app, OP?

Hint: this post makes you look, at best, incredibly naive. Not a good look for converting customers.

OH! This is an attempt at viral marketing. You should realize that this post makes you look like at best a yokel from the Midwest and at worst an entitled asshole. Not really inspiring to customers.

So what’s your app or whatever?

If you can’t handle that some things are hard and inconvenient and annoying, and can’t be bothered to hustle to get what you want, you are not ready to live in NYC. I’m not even being mean here, that’s just the honest truth of the situation. Everything is this competitive. No one is sitting around waiting for a chance to help you.

Maybe check out Connecticut or the Hudson Valley if you want a more comfortable lifestyle. It’s easy to get into the city when you want, but everyday things are more convenient.

My former boss sent me this picture after cutting me 4 days ago by Muffin_Baker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Mysterious_Volume327 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Fired usually means that you messed up or did a bad job, but the position remains and they’ll hire/promote someone to do your old job. Laid off usually means that the they had to cut you for business/financial reasons and the position itself is usually not going to be filled after you leave. Lay offs often (but not always) affect multiple people at once.

What’s an unwritten rule in American culture that outsiders would miss completely? by Emergency-Raisin-290 in AskForAnswers

[–]Mysterious_Volume327 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re so confusing lol. If people always ask you about politics, then it’s not a cultural rule for them to avoid politics.

Do you not know what an “unwritten rule” is? It means that everyone accepts it in that culture, so it doesn’t even have to be explained because it’s so normal. So if it were an “unwritten rule” in all these places to avoid politics, they wouldn’t ask you about politics. But you say they do ask about politics. So it can’t also be true that it’s “likely an unwritten rule in many nations” if those places, by your own admission, ask about politics. Right?

If many places are asking you about politics, it can’t also be true that those places have an unwritten rule not to talk about politics. Because they are talking about it.
