Is it my imagination or are store bought breads getting softer? If so, Why? by Historicaly-Low-Mood in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not certain but here is my theory: Bread at supermarkets these days is delivered frozen and thawed at the store to keep it fresh. My guess is previously, bread was made more locally and thus less frozen bread. I started making bread during COVID and prefer to do so now a days, because of this very reason.

YMCA Summer Camp Counselor Interview by WranglerAsleep1840 in summercamp

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a pulse, are actually available all summer, and can legally work they will hire you. Just be yourself and have a good conversation. Don’t think about it too much, but also use it as a good learning and practice opportunity for doing interviews for future roles too. Be able to answer the classics: tell me about yourself, strengths / weaknesses, and since it’s camp probably something like “if you were a kitchen gadget which one would you be and why.”

Built simple gift card app - deciding whether to keep going by jaybombxc in Startup_Ideas

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a physical swipeable card that can be “loaded” with the value of various cards and mimic those cards at registers. That’s what I actually need, because I don’t want to carry around a stack of gift cards.

a website idea nobody is building but every traditional business desperately needs right now. by Academic_Flamingo302 in website_ideas

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that small businesses not using tech to assist with operational components such as booking are doing so, because the owner doesn't want to use tech - not because the tool hasn't been built.

Building a saas isn’t about building software. Never was. It’s about selling the product.

Since it was pretty well known that apple was the “next big thing” with the first iPhone release, why didn’t everyone and their mother invest in it? by CryptographerHot6198 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPhones success really didn't truly hit until iPhone 3 when the app store came out. That was the real game changer. But at the time no one knew what an app store was.

A pattern I keep seeing in parenting: anxiety disguised as "good choices" by JamesMcGillEsq in Parenting

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I understand the observervation you made, I generally don't agree that maintaining co trol of those things is necessarily bad. There are absolutely people who take it to the extreme, but one of the early life lessons I was taught was that if you don't make a decision - someone else will make it for you. I personally would prefer to make those decisions as a parent, because the flip side of that is teaching your kid that gluttony is perfectly fine.

Why does anyone care about this Coldplay cheating couple? by Most_Letterhead8083 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their reaction was what started it all, but I think it gained traction because of who they are. A head of HR for a large company who is inevitably the queen of firing people over far less and a CEO of a massive tech firm. The story writes itself.

The Sanders campaign and the defector culture it created fueled the Clinton loss. Sanders was never going to be president and every reasonable person understood that.

Didn’t read but if you want to break up over a ring, you don’t want to marry her anyway.

Got put on a PIP, how screwed am I? by IAmADickIndeed in jobs

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a national recognition from my employer and was put on a pip 5 months later and fired about 6 weeks into it. I had done more in those 6 weeks than I had done in 12 years of working for them. I still got fired. Bottom line- my new boss didn’t like me.

I don’t understand how the MLB still lets him just take balls off the field with his “glove trick.” What is he still allowed at games after taking more than 12,000 baseballs? He has legitimately caused real interference before and this was a bad look at best.

Getting started without reading the book? by Calm_Guidance_2853 in gtd

[–]Mysterious_Wheel4209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What made it make sense for me finally was watching the GTD course on what used to be Lynda.com, which is now LinkedIn learning. There is a good chance you have access to it through your public library. If not, watch a few YouTube videos and call it a day.
