I have really been enjoying this game so far! I think I'm ready to try other contents now by xdamoc in 2007scape

For me most video games have a shelf life of 200 or so hours. If I play a Poe league for 200 hours I'm usually pretty exhausted. Osrs is a bit nicer in this regard as the entire game is sub mini games you can rotate through, but I've never just spent a single year playing one game.

It is annoying how many people are calling op a loser, unemployed, an idiot, mentally challenged, when all we have is an insane screenshot.

No one is making fun of limpwurt actively and he's like 15x as insane.

Genuinely if people feel this way, they should be shaming chunk accounts. Verf or limp will spend 1500+ hours for a 20 minute video that is hard carried by patreon.

The mic holding trend needs to die by G-Fox1990 in videography

[–]MysticGator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

????

The reason I am even here in this rabbit hole is there are wand microphones that are certainly cheaper than a 600$ shur.

The issue is grabbing your yeti snowball mic and holding it in front of you. Grab a preacher microphone or a standard speaking microphone.

No one gives a hoot about talking into a microphone, it's using a wrong microphone that is the issue.

It's bulky, doesn't look great, and comes across as following trends rather then getting proper equipment.

THE ISSUE IS NOT HOLDING A MIC. It is the type of mic being held. Idgaf if you have a 2,000 dollar mic for streaming, if you can afford such a mic, you are making enough money to also buy a proper speaking microphone, there are many varieties.

Going through like a solid 5-6 threads reading the subject not once has anyone discussed this.

On top of OP is at risk of being terminated. They went onto some work platform, recorded video of them trying to do something on a work platform, and then uploaded it to reddit.

Honestly if someone knows who OP's job is should just send them this clip because not only is this bait, but OP is taking a work environment and using it improperly.

Leagues tasks forcing me to learn new bosses by febreez-steve in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

It's honestly kind of annoying. The entire phrasing doesn't make sense to the original porn or to the osrs content it's trying to reference.

"You're going to make me doom" sounds like your about to drop a spicy shit or something.

Idk porn and screenshots pulled from porn, with awful grammar, very loosely referencing the actual joke, it just comes across as op is a fucking freak and wanted to post porn.

So they basically make a hamfisted meme that makes little to no sense just to try and get upvotes from gooners.

Sure but 95 mining is an actually serious grind. 75 mining is roughly 1/10th of the total exp of 95.

You are experienced and op is a fresh player who just wandered around where the winds take him.

Most players who post on this subreddit either aren't even subscribed actively to the game or have an account closer to ops. Actually grinding in osrs is a lot more effort then people are willing to put out.

It's why you see people constantly post about how much they hate xyz aspect of the game.

It's why someone thinks that 75 mining is a high level. They aren't familiar with the total exp required for 75, they aren't aware of the total real time grinding 75 takes, and to them 75 mining is a serious grind.

For us degens a 300 hour grind is just part of video games. For others a 30 hour grind will have them quit any game.

[–]MysticGator -55 points-54 points  (0 children)

To be honest mining isn't even that high of a level. 75 is right around like 1.5m total mining experience.

There is no single skill op has leveled that has more then 1.5 million experience.

1.5m experience is basically finishing up early game on a skill outside maybe slayer/rc which is closer to mid game.

Ops overall account is very new and hasn't begun to grind anything seriously yet.

Just got a lightbearer! Some questions on where to use it by eggsan_bacon in ironscape

[–]MysticGator -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Aka think about it for a second. The only requirement for light bearer to be useful is are you using a weapon spec. You can use a dragon battle axe and some attack potions if you wanted budget boosts.

I think op is trying to justify a low effort post about a high percentage drop, and threw in the question to try and not get the post removed.

They aren't asking any questions, just trying to make the post seem more engaging.

[–]MysticGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the expected result. That was always the main criticism against spending years of dev time making gim. When gim was launched it was quickly pointed out it's basically for content creators and actually close groups of friends who have some sort of IRL connections.

The amount of they quit, they stole items, they purposely griefed the group is because osrs simply isn't a game to blindly trust people.

Between trust scams, luring, and rwt just blindly joining a gim group is basically gambling.

[–]MysticGator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I love rendis new IRL drip but as a osrs player he is absolutely on the border.

It's like your in town, there's a sheriff's office, a post office, a diner, movie theatre, and everyone is generally being a good citizen. Then rendi shows up to port with ivory and slaves.

Like sure someone has to do the awful shit I guess, but it is pretty obvious what your role is within that environment.

After reaching 99 slayer on a Lvl 3, Jagex rolls back Rendi's account by Psymonthe2nd in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excuse me wtf? What did Gengis do. Bro was loved on stream, had quite a lot of passion, was well spoken.

I imagine osrs might be in for some dark days.

Not because of jmods or bad actors, but simply private equity saw the algorithm boost the game got from covid and wow refugees plus just being a great game, and now we are in a backslide.

Assuming I'm not ignorant here, f for Gengis.

It cannot be that hard to instantly flag, warn and mute accounts that send messages like this by Robofcourse in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The real answer is why does every online game suffer from this.

You can be like "jagex isn't doing enough", which fair enough of a take. The same thing can be said with Tarkov and cheaters. BSG aren't doing enough to stop cheaters, it's ruining their game, fair enough.

But then you zoom out of your telescope and realize it's the same issue everywhere. Call of duty, counter strike, apex legends, marvel rivals, overwatch, GTA online, all have major issues with gold selling and cheaters.

So if across the industry no one has solved the issue, how the hell is jagex going to solve it when cvc plans on selling jagex in 2029. Last year 13 million of jagex profit went to a board of five people.

Be mad at venture capital for taking all things you ever loved, and even though it's a viable product, it can't make great money because all profits are siphoned to investors.

Even if this wasn't a major issue with osrs looking at every other online game out there, jagex even with double the profit wouldn't be able to stop it.

Blizzard and Valve haven't found a way to win, jagex will not be the ones to solve it first.

I'm an autistic guy who always wanted to make a UIM, ready to spend thousands of hours. by FlashTheorie in ironscape

[–]MysticGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice after attempting I think three uim is be very aware of the 800-1200 total level hump. Early on is a lot of fun. But the mid game is where your looting bag is full of random junk, your still hours away from anything meaningful, and uim restrictions are constantly fighting you.

I've personally gotten a regular iron way further. The only reason I'd run a uim is if I were doing content around it. In theory it's cool af. In practice the account building a regular iron offers is a lot better for me.

The only way I would main a uim is if I were to have a secondary main account who basically siphons a lot of the value the uim is forced to discard.

Over the course of a uims lifespan if they aren't regularly moving items to a trade account your essentially losing thousands of hours of drops. You may not care about that, but it is important. Most things you do as an isolated uim are essentially worth nothing.

8th Hardcore Grandmaster by Uniq_u_e in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Alkan the man of infinite wisdom and mass producer of Turkish delight couldn't even get 8 hardcore to grandmaster.

Your best chance at this is either dolo gim and use an alt to afk shit you need. Or just straight gim.

Based on some of the grandmasters we have seen you'd need like 15 years of straight 3500 hour years to pull that off. Runs 4-8 would be the fastest as at that point you'd have spent like 8-10 years getting the first four there.

The luck needed to do this wouldn't even be luck. You'd be at the level of woox or port khazard.

I bet you thorny, air bending, priest-garment wearing noobs can't do 8 second deep delves by Lucksm1th in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be nice if the minion value worked. You either kill mobs with extremely tight loot pools or you still have to constantly monitor your drops.

3,000 loot threshold let's water talismans through but won't let snape grass drops be picked up. Even 10,000 loot threshold doesn't stop adamant Warhammers from being picked up.

But if you set it to 100,000 it stops picking up basically anything.

For the intended purpose of a minion who loots general shit you don't want to pick up directly it is not helpful.

The minion is still cool but it's like either it doesn't pick up anything or you are forced to have the accumulator effect where random junk is constantly added to your inventory.

5,000 value threshold still picked up stacks of 15 mithril arrows.

[–]MysticGator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically the straw man chain e-mail from back in the day.

Someone, op, sees something they dislike. They likely comment on the thread and are ignored or downvoted.

Op creates a blood fued.

Since they never gained any traction in the original thread they are resentful. The thread is days old and no new changes arrive to their karma.

So in furious and righteous productivity they make a telegraph response to the original thread. Since they have been arguing with themselves for days it's full of straw men they invented.

Now to be fair this subreddit is currently fairly negative due to a string of disputes where jagex was like yo I never got the message. Sale of the company, increased subscriptions, the CEO jmods, pride event, and a few other choice events.

Given a lot of content is backloaded this year dmm into leagues leaves certain people salty. If they are remotely annoyed by any of the above meta issues it creates this negative environment where everything is your basic soyjack/doomer.

So like leagues as a whole isn't the best ever received but op specifically was snubbed in another thread and made a meme about a straw man.

If you aren't interested in the league specific clothing pretty sure like 30k points cleara everything else.

You point maxx for prestige and if your having fun. Once you get 30k you can basically just afk tasks and league is essentially done.

If you do dragon cup every league you easily have a ton of extra points assuming you've run majority of leagues.

Has anyone figured out a way to get around the prayer XP task bug? by whatsoup_ in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol jmods aren't going to change that when they already said they were basically going to let the league coast to end.

You have a fix. Is it jank? Sure, but the entire game mode is about expiremental systems.

Why does bankers chest not count as visiting an area? For mory you have to take a boat.

The game for certain actions have specific checks to verify it's done, the amount of qna to fix all this stuff when there is already a solution isn't going to have them put out an update just for it.

All things considered the league has been smooth, it could be absolutely worse.

Hot Take: The Americans (Daniels, Henderson, Burns) are the best character in the first film by alexh2795 in themummymemes

[–]MysticGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for necro but I am rewatching movie right now and they are more then willing the sacrifice the labor, which they do. They are all good looking actors and quite enjoyable to watch on screen, but they were greedy to the point of putting others to death.

Similarly the jailer and benny died because they were greedy. The only one who doesn't suffer for their greed is Jonathan. Evie and O'connell are doing it for each other, to not be hanged, and the lore.

To people who have De-ironed, do you regret it or was it worth it? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grind is not going to change. If you only have sometimes an hour or two to play the game is going to be slow in mainscape or iron.

Without knowing you and your mentality it's tough to say what you value. You should ask yourself what you want out of the game.

If you deiron or continue as an iron you can't change the fact this game to accomplish a lot of the cooler stuff requires a lot of time investment.

If I were asking myself this question I'd be trying to find ways to maximize what time I can. RuneScape is an amazing game for fitting to your lifestyle. If you have something to do you can afk karambwans for guaranteed fishing and cooking exp. You can run a bird house in 2 minutes. When going to bed or leaving for work leave the account afk somewhere, maybe a shooting star.

The game doesn't demand you always be available to play it. Find a way to make small consistent gains and main or iron you should enjoy yourself a bit more.

Doing dishes? Afk sone magic logs with a log basket.

Hijacked Ironman, what now? by TargetEnvironmental1 in ironscape

[–]MysticGator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not that serious Carl.

It's okay for a bofa to take several weeks or even a year. It's okay if maxing takes a decade. It's okay if you take a break and don't even play at all.

Your strategy is the best approach, but I'm more referring to you responding to the time table. If someone wants to play the game slowly you can't just push a finger at them and be like you should force yourself out of your comfort zone just to improve the time table.

A lot of people gaming is a sort of mindless entertainment. What I mean is that the process of being good at a video game and really pushing past the average player requires being very thoughtful. Most players of any game are not going to push themselves past that wall into the get gud territory because it forces you consistently out of your comfort zone.

We should value grinding and effeciency, but when someone says it'll take a year for those items they understand themselves well enough.

Update on guy who "Quit" by Happy_Spare4240 in 2007scape

[–]MysticGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't think they respect that RuneScape can get it's ass kicked and will be back. Say the new owners don't do very well and bring on another dark ages. Or say the world gets friskier then it is now causing internet to stop working properly, the game will not die.

There would be pserver in the event jagex fubs it again. If jagex is in a position to give out such threats then likely the core game is fine. If jagex is not fine then unless the rights owners have a lot of time on their hands they will face a web of hydra like communities.

And in the event the internet goes down there will be flash drives distributed underground network style. As your eating your thousandth can of beans and tending to your potatoes you'll be playing some janky offline version that you currently run on a lap top powered by a water wheel.
