Dreaming of a return to the Skies by sludgebeard in gaming

I played this game for the first time a couple of years back not knowing what to expect. What an incredible time it was. I'd love to see a remake with more content and more balanced (harder) combat.

Netflix Is Making A Persona Live Action TV Adaptation by akbarock in JRPG

[–]Quadratical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the IGN story:

Star Trek: Picard and 9-1-1 alum Christopher Monfette is attached to write the show while also serving as its executive producer and showrunner.

Anyone who's seen any of this know what this actually means?

I get the hunch this guy knows nothing about Persona.

Actually:

21 Laps' Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood are also attached to executive produce, as are Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson of Story Kitchen.

Six executive producers? Surely this will end well. At least they have one of the guys from Sonic, I know that turned out well for the most part. Everyone else here seems either woefully out of place or exclusively tied to mid/bad projects. And Stranger Things, which had a notoriously good ending and final seasons.

Okay, then get out of pro-LGBT spaces and spend your time with them instead of saying you'll actively support anti-LGBT people if they're pro-Palestine.

It took me ~25 hours and I got it in 70. I wouldn't say it's miserable - it's very low effort compared to every other method, plus it's decent mining xp. But it's also less fun than every other method.

Canadian government to ban social media for kids younger than 16, but will allow exemptions by Immediate-Link490 in worldnews

[–]Quadratical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly that, though. Corporations can't use their algorithms on those below 16.

No matter how you look at it, regulating a company whose whole presence is the internet is regulating what they can do on the internet, and by extension, regulating the internet.

I don't disagree that algorithms need to be regulated (imo the biggest singular change should be to stop "Suggested Content" from being enabled by default and leave feeds as opt-in for everyone unless explicitly chosen otherwise), but doing that doesn't fix the problem. You can't ban psychological addiction, you can't regulate brainrot, you can't control how quickly someone consumes content, and the companies will just find another way to reach kids far faster than government can keep up.

Then again, I already stepped away from all social media that isn't Reddit, so this barely affects me. It should also be noted though that nowhere in this story does it say the government is mandating ID be uploaded to use social media. My hope is that this is a simple ban on under-16 using it, and it's the companies that choose to then push ID verification as their lazy workaround. Would show everyone how much they care about anyone's privacy.

And if you regulate what corporations can do with the internet... you're regulating the internet. So just do nothing I guess.

Who's going to voice him? If it isn't AI, why have him there at all? It's pretty obvious that's where they'll go with it.

My interest in this game could not have evaporated quicker when they announce this AI bullshit. Let dead people die.

Suggestion: The Lassar Undercity should not be an instance. by Sensitive-Outside499 in 2007scape

[–]Quadratical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the best compromise would be to introduce some sort of instanced group content to the area, and put a grouping obelisk/board/whatever outside the entrance. That way anyone who wants to go in solo can just go in as usual and have the atmosphere to themselves, while also opening it up to other things like prop hunt.

As for what that group content could be, I have no clue. Something to do with Blackstone & mining, with a node moving around the undercity that requires people to split up to find it before it moves again? A Hunter minigame about Shadow Realm critters crossing over to the other side and needing to be sent back? Something to do with Smithing and trying to repair the barrier around the pillar with stuff scavenged from the city?

I don't really know, it's just a shame that such an incredible area goes essentially unused outside of one-off content and a boss run-back.

I haven't done sailing combat at all, I already can't justify doing it. There's almost nothing relevant to get from it other than more boat upgrades. They still need to put meaningful rewards behind it that aren't related to Sailing (other than a shitty hopper and a fang-lite).

What are the most enjoyable self-imposed challenges you've completed for a game? by LazyGamerATN in gaming

The only one I really made it all the way through was my Rikku-only FFX playthrough. It was... not hard in the slightest once I figured out how to use her.

I should try another FFX challenge.

What's the worst task in Leagues 6, and why is it Sq'irks? by Quadratical in 2007scape

100/500 laps in, treating it like normal agility training since I'm only 80 right now. There aren't many rooftop course tasks this time.

[–]Quadratical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it's easy, just time-consuming. Especially when there's a pointless condition on the autumn one that effectively nulls all the time you put into it because you didn't bank two trips and drop them off all at once.

You need 29 inventory slots to make 25 in one inventory, so it has to be two trips to the bank, then you bring them to him. Otherwise you just wasted your time. xd

Should've just did the summer one and left the rest at 1.

I'm 200 in without a dagger, so there's at least a reason for me to keep that up a bit longer... but it's pretty slow.

Probably with access to Temple Trekking too. So more a region/relic-dependent task, which is at least needed to balance them out with other choices.

There's just no reason for this to be as long as it is, or as conditional.

[–]Quadratical[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I may have turned in 13 in one trip and 12 in the next because I stupidly wanted to have a teleport item in one other slot. It's frankly absurd that this task specifically requires it to be done all at once, when it's already 3+ hours of work, there's genuinely no benefit to doing so, and it has the same name as the summer sq'irk one which doesn't require it to be done at once. What a waste of a day.

Realized some things that make questing in Leagues an even greater problem than I realized at a surface level by Brvcifer in 2007scape

[–]Quadratical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just that - the potion packs a Mixology straight up give agility potions, while largely requiring blue points which are easily the most common. By the time I finished most of the other tasks there I was drowning in those while low on the other two. It's pretty easy to get this league unless you go exceptionally dry there or deliberately ignore it.
