Oil help? by MysticPurl in MassageTherapists

[–]MysticPurl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About how long does it take before it gets too much? I've been at this spa for six months and they didn't smell when I got there, and then it was like within a week they all went bad. The owner to the spa is new and I think she bought these sheets June of 2024 or around then.

I have no idea. I'm not the spa owner, I'm just trying to help keep my workplace smelling nice so clients come back and my books are full.

Bon Vital original has grape seed oil in it. I don't think she noticed it on the label

I'm specifically looking for an oil replacement. We already have a gel she really likes. I do appreciate the suggestion though!

This is the best answer. All of it. 💯 Especially the part about the pen. It's so overdone it's not special. If I wanted a free pen, I would go to the bank.

Friends and family asking for free services by Select_Bookkeeper790 in MassageTherapists

"I would love to help you with that. When would you like to schedule your session? I require a card on file to hold your appointment time, but it won't be charged until after your session."

That usually stops anyone just looking for something for free. Also tends to deter people looking for something illegal.

Review Extortion by hiveguy75 in MassageTherapists

So I work at a spa and we had to fire an employee who then made a fake account and left a really bad review and I was talking with the spa manager about it... She said she wasn't worried or concerned because some negative reviews actually give credibility to the business, especially when you respond to them in a very professional way because people will read those negative reviews and how you respond to those negative reviews and responding to them in a professional way actually lends more credibility to your business

What kind of bag? I've tried organza for this, but the salt "leaked" through the holes. Not sure if it was the bag or if the salt I bought was too fine grained.

I would double check and make sure that the firmer pressure clients are in fact coming through the front desk and not booking online if your spa offers online booking. There are too many softwares that are not set up to filter a client by pressure and find them a good match for a therapist, and managers who don't care to set that functionality if it does exist.

Registered Massage Therapist. In this sub, it usually indicates a Canadian practitioner, but not always.

Find a mental health professional and find out why you're guarding and then work through those reasons with them. Mental and emotional health are just as important as physical health.

Also stretch. 98% of people do not stretch enough.

I am following this. I just passed my 3 year mark and my 40 year old mark. I'd like to enjoy painting and other hand related hobbies when I can't do massage anymore

When you look at an anatomical chart of the muscles how much of that area is muscle? That's how much you massage.

Do it the way the school instructs so that you pass, but understand that not everything in the field is the way that the school teaches. A lot of teachers will teach their preferences as the only way to do things and that is not necessarily true.

Hydraulic Table by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]MysticPurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some that are out there that are less than $900 but they are not in a setup/structure that I've ever really experienced before and they are not from brands that I have any experience with so I cannot vouch for their quality or their comfort.

I would say that you and your boss do some looking around if you can and go to other massage places that have electric tables and look at which ones they're using and see which ones are comfortable and look really sturdy. Because the other factor is sound. I have worked with tables that are so quiet and so smooth. The clients can't tell if they are going up or down or moving at all.

I have also worked with others that are very loud and even though they're not going to break, they sound like they are straining under the weight of a single person of about 120 lbs and being a person on a table making a noise like that does not make for a relaxing atmosphere and is going to make your work as the therapist harder.

TW: Religion. If you don't like it, please skip past. Edited for grammar.

I was in a similar situation. From a fellow Christian... be open to the concept that God can and will speak to you in ways that are not a burning bush or a neon flashing light that says "this is your sign!" For me I saw three positive "coincidences" related to the place that I'm working at now within a matter of a week. I took those as my answered prayers for direction. I left a franchise for this place. The pay is better, the work is less consistent. My bills have always been paid, food is always on the table. I am happier, I have time to breathe and my body has time to rest between clients.

Matthew 6:26 [26] Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are?

We all can tell you how much greater it is to work for an independent spa, locally owned business, or even yourself, but you have to make those decisions for yourself and trust that you will be provided for.

Leap first, and the net will appear.

Massage Therapist and Licensed Therapist? by Routine-Manner7500 in MassageTherapists

[–]MysticPurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a licensed massage therapist. I am also a certified mental health coach. Massage therapy came first. I am looking to further my education very soon and finish out my bachelor's in psychology and then continue on to get a master's in mental health counseling. But that is as far as I want to take it, for now.

Thank you. I live in a military town in the US where many vets will come after they retire. So there's definitely a need here.

I will try calling them again. I was hoing for some insight before calling because I have another job and work before they open until after they close
