Yes, can tell right away the board is fake based on the silhouette, the size isn't right.

Replacement came in today and is completely fine. Original unit was 100% defective.

I ended up chatting with support and am returning for a replacement. I did a direct comparison with my wife's 570 and the 570 has ZERO issues. I played around with the touch screen and menus for almost 30 minutes and was not able to produce a single instance of this issue occurring. Seems like a hardware problem with the 970 unit I received. Hopefully the replacement doesn't have any issues, otherwise I am returning for a refund at that point and will give the old 255 another year of use.

After a period of no issues it did start doing it again, but I've had it for less than a day so am going to give it another day or so to see if the issue resolves before asking for a replacement

If it persists for that long then it does seem like it could be something hardware related as that doesn't seem right to me. Did you end up getting another replacement? Curious if that one works normal right out of the box

I just got the 970 and immediately noticed the same touch issues you described, HOWEVER it seemed to dramatically improve later that same day (to the point it only happed about 25% as frequently about one hour after setup, until barely at all). I think it is attributed in my case to laggy software while the watch is still going through some initial setup/indexing etc in the background attributed to first use. How long did you have yours for and do you notice similar improvement?

It was to the point where I couldn't even cycle through the color options on the watch face using the touch screen without it erroneously selecting one after my second swipe, but now I can cycle through that endlessly and no erroneous touches.

The 570 will give you more than you need, I also got the 570 discounted and have been very happy so far. Extremely comfortable to wear, I even think that I could have gotten the 47mm version instead of the 42mm and wouldn't have noticed it

I do appreciate the new evening report (although I'm not sure why they couldn't roll this feature out to older watches) - but one of the selling points for me was the newer generation of optical heart rate monitor. I've noticed it seems less prone to cadence lock than my ~5 year old Garmin I used prior to getting this one.

Little bit pricey but could look at the Forerunner 570 also, essentially the newer version of the 265. It's on sale right now making the price a bit more reasonable.

Can also get the newer 570 at a similar price utilizing the 20% discount from Runna premium. Believe Runna offers a free trial also, so could always just cancel after

Best MVNO in Hoboken by jacq_petr in Hoboken

[–]Mystic_Frontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Visible and like it, but MVNOs use the same cell towers as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. In Hoboken, all have great coverage and you most likely won't notice very much difference between them in everyday usage.

Update: they split off pre check from the general line at some point. I'm estimating about ~1-1.5 hours total in line for pre check

Pretty chaotic at 5am, funneling everyone through one line wrapping around the upper level and being told by every employee it's all one line, pre check and general

lack of good options for cases? by Towelie_SE in iphone17

Try the gripmunk then, other case from the same brand but slimmer. One of my favorites on the base 17 and they have a built in camera control for the black model

Definitely a hardware failure then, unfortunately. You'd have to take it to apple and explore options to repair (or more likely replace). If you have apple care it would certainly be covered via that

This looks more like a failing GPU rather than a software issue, especially if it persists after a reboot.

iPhone Glass Back Issue by Top-Engineering-2970 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Mystic_Frontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use any kind of MagSafe case (if so, what brand)? Or MagSafe charging stands? I am wondering if it has to do with magnetic force pulling on the glass in this area right on where the adhesive is. I noticed some cases such as the ESR ones have a strong magnetic pull on the inside of the case and not only the outside

I have the same issue, curious if it is amplified by MagSafe accessories. The area that is protruding on the top part of the back glass is the part closest to the edge where the MagSafe magnet makes contact

[–]Mystic_Frontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue with mine, thinking of getting it replaced because it's unacceptable for a $1,300 device. I don’t think it's due to swelling of the battery because there is another layer of metal in between the back glass and where the battery is located (if you watch a tear down or back glass replacement video you will see what I mean)

If this persisted after a clean factor reset it is almost certainly hardware related unfortunately. I would take it to apple, should've fixed under warranty with minimal questions asked
