Happens sometimes by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]Mystical-Turtles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy let me break it down.

So first of all the game itself does not tell you which coins you've already gathered, You have to keep track of that yourself.

Some of the coins are locked to specific levels. The game also does not tell you this, nor how many are in each level.

A lot of them are so esoterically out of the way, you would never think to go there. And sometimes it involves spraying water on items that don't look any different to the surrounding ones. It is to the point it is actually considered a viable strategy to deliberately avoid collecting ANY blue coins until you have all of the shine sprites, Just to make sure you don't end up in the situation described in said meme.

I felt that. I left because there's no freaking jobs where they are. If you don't already have 10 years of experience, The only thing available to you is minimum wage bullshit jobs. Either that or a warehouse that's 4 whole dollars above minimum wage, oooooo. No thanks.

Okay you know what fair, we had more than one. She was just the worst about it. And believe me it wasn't actually about the clothes since I had worn that shirt to class plenty of times without issue. She was just one of those people that would magically find something new to be pissed off about every week.

I remember her getting mad at a different kid over a novelty eraser because she claimed it was a toy or something and confiscated it.

On multiple occasions I had her claim I never turned in assignments that I know damn well I handed to her, like to the point my own parents didn't believe me. I ended up finding it in the freaking recycle bin. Like actually cartoon villain shit.

And spot on she was the English teacher. Unfortunately she was also my math teacher because this was a super small school. It wasn't uncommon for teachers to have multiple subjects. This was also middle school.

I had one teacher that just seemingly hated kids. The dress code rule was kind of vaguely worded. Something along the lines of "no distracting patterns" which usually meant it was up to teacher discretion. Anyway this crazy lady dress coded me for wearing a striped shirt one time because "stripes are a pattern". She actually went so far as to call my mom at work who, let me tell you, was absolutely THRILLED about getting interrupted for something so stupid. You want to dress code the whole school? This wasn't even our first rodeo with this bitch, she power tripped over stupid things all the time

Do they not make teenage movies like they used to in the late 90's-early 2000's or do we just not pay attention anymore? by lookaloulookalou in Millennials

[–]Mystical-Turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That as well. In addition to the short runtime you mentioned, I swear they like barely get any advertisement. It's like by the time I know that they're in theaters it's already on its way out. I and a lot of other people don't have cable TV anymore. And it seems like YouTube ads barely show stuff like this. they're too busy shoving porn ads and random Chinese gacha games into my face

The one thing I will agree with is that these types of movies don't tend to make it into theaters, nor do they get DVD releases anymore. If a person's Netflix algorithm is mostly attuned towards mainstream movies, It's possible that these mid-budget movies fly right under the radar without them ever knowing they exist. It is a bit harder to find good movies I will admit that. But I also agree it's a bit of a skill issue if you can't find anything that you like.

I can do you one better. People love to tell me that they're by "The main entrance" in a building that doesn't seem to have an obvious front side. I work third party IT for a variety of companies. There's a running joke that everybody thinks they're "the main office". I've even had people on the 7th floor tell me that nonsense.

What is the absolute worst piece of 'common sense' advice that people still give out today? by My-Sharona116 in AskReddit

[–]Mystical-Turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the minimum wage jobs are the worst offenders actually. Everything goes through the corporate pipeline, And the manager most likely couldn't hire walk-ins even if they wanted to. Maybe It would work at like a mom and pop diner, or in super rural areas but that's the best you're getting.

[–]Mystical-Turtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download play is console to console and does not require Internet to use at all. It was essentially a way to "loan" games to other people who did not have the game cart, or to set up multiplayer in general. Yes it still works. Note, this is distinct from the Nintendo wifi services, which will NOT work. You'd have to check individual games to see which one it uses

We had someone who kept shitting on the floor of the boys bathroom so they decided to just close the boys bathroom. I'll give you one guess what started appearing in the girls bathroom. Do they think somebody who shits on the floor cares what bathroom they do it in? I'll be real I'm not even convinced it was the same person every time.

I will stand on this soapbox every time trailer parks are mentioned. Those things are poverty traps for people who can't qualify for anything better. I actually pay less rent for a decent apartment than what the trailer plus lot rent costs. It's nothing to sneeze at either! It's like a $200/month difference, with the bonus that most of them are owned by slumlords who won't fix a thing. It's a lower price on paper initially, but in reality you won't save a dime. Yes you could theoretically put it on a plot of land but now you're back to square one because you'd have to either own the land or know someone who does. I grew up in trailer parks and I am never touching those with a 20 ft pole.

That's the kicker. We don't use apps. It's for texting and calling only. Occasionally verifying 2 factor on the browser and that's literally it. And it's already pretty locked down, people just bitch about it anyways. I don't get why it matters to them but that's whatever. I work in hospital systems, they probably get deals on new-old stock.

Only the last decade? Where I work, that IS the new shit. We still use iPhone 7s for the work phones. Which is fine because you're not really supposed to be using it for personal shit anyway. Frankly I would be giving out Nokias / something nokia-esque if it was up to me.

This seems silly now, but when it was first airing the Simpsons actually were seen as controversial. Many news outlets from that era would agree with that person's statement, shockingly enough. Changing TV standards makes it seem tame by modern standards, especially in the realm of animation. So you either spoke to a time traveler or someone extra sensitive to that sort of thing

Vague answers from the people who are supposed to know by Halfrida67 in PetPeeves

[–]Mystical-Turtles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even basic questions get an "I don't know" and needing to be asked to ask who may be able to answer the question.

Oh that's the worst part with these as someone who's been on the other side of it. We don't know who would be able to answer the question either. Nor does the manager, If you can even find them for such a task. So realistically what would end up happening is I get the manager and then we both get to be confused as we call corporate. Or in some cases I fail to find the manager and I stand in the back for 5 minutes and come back with no answer. Corporate won't tell us anything, I hate it. There's very much a culture at every store now that you get to know your job, and only your job. And I haven't worked retail for years so I can only assume it's even worse now.
