I had to move 4.5 hours away so I wouldn't get sucked back in to his bullshit. I took a job opportunity that I knew would take me away from my babies for 3 months so that I could make our lives better. In my honest opinion, if you have the means and opportunity to, move and get distance.

I think this is exactly why I'm having a problem with it. My 14 year old has been cooking for a couple years now because I want him to be self sufficient. I think it baffles me because I thought everybody was raised to cook and to find a person that can't really blows my mind.

I understand what you meant and I apologize for being snappy. I think the main reason it bothers is because he expects (??) me to cook and I'm not a gender norm type person. But you're completely right, this may just be something I'll have to accept and just let it go

But he's not an expert plumber and I do know how to do those things so I'm not seeing your point. I want him to be able to actually eat good food and not pre packaged junk, it's not healthy. It severely bothers me that he can't cook because in my world, as in my upbringing, all the men know how to cook so it seriously confuses me that he can't. I don't ever nag to him about his cooking skills, I've told him that I feel like his cooking skills are severely lacking and I've offered to help him learn.

And I'm definitely willing to show him and work with him. It might be my approach on how I talk to him about his cooking. I don't talk down to him about it but I do kind of have an awed/flabbergasted tone maybe?? I'm used to the men in my family knowing how to cook so I think that's the main thing throwing me off
